(from Google)By far my favorite and the most scenic trail within the Sam Houston National Forest. I love coming out here to enjoy the beauty of nature. I've also seen a lot of neat wildlife along this trail. There are plenty of snakes out here so just be careful. Most of them I've come across thus far have been harmless such as the beautiful Rough Greensnake.
We did the full 8 miles so each way 4 . The rail is pretty narrow but it has super pretty moments, with lake streams etc. not too many people. In general it’s easy level but you have be careful of the roots sticking out.
This trail is fun! It goes right by the lake. It can get kind of confusing at times though. The trail breaks up a bit and it made me have to look for the correct trail a few times. But it’s a really fun trail and shaded mostly
We really enjoyed this trailhead! It’s a beautiful drive in, with plenty of parking spots when we visited (dirt lot). The trail was well marked. It was a short hike to view Lake Conroe! It was very serene!
Beautiful trail. I went about 2.5 miles in. The creek is washed out so you have to detour slightly but nothing crazy. I’ve only been on a few LSH trails, but this is easily my favorite so far. You see water after only a short distance (.5 mi) and there’s a big enough area to enjoy it without being right up on someone. I did see a few people on trail but nothing crazy. Definitely recommend!
