They don't call this the best state park in Florida for nothing!!! What an amazing place. First, I would like to complement the staff. There were volunteers and workers everywhere keeping the park clean and offering support. I felt safe and it was nice to see how much they care. It was cool to see them on there bikes. Next up is the gazebos. Not sure how renting one works but I passed so many groups of people using there covered spaces for birthday parties or family get togethers and wow I was getting jealous. The best one seemed to be the one closest to kayaking launch area since it was right next to the river and facilities, though take my opinion on this with a grain of salt. As for my experience, I walked about 4 miles worth of trails and I think there might have been more. I recommend downloading the map onto your phone just to be safe since many of the trails have intersections. I went in March and it was pretty buggy, to remember to bring some environmentally friendly bug spray and sun screen. Many of the paths do have foliage but the parking lots and open recreational areas do not. Idk. Just have fun yall, you'll love it.

Hillsborough River State Park is a beautiful and very spacious natural park, perfect for spending the day outdoors. It has many walking trails surrounded by lush forest and well-maintained greenery. It’s great for outdoor activities like kayaking and fishing, and there are also plenty of picnic areas with lots of open space for families and kids to enjoy safely. The entrance has a small fee; in my case, my husband and I paid $6 total, which is absolutely worth it for everything the park offers. We even saw alligators, but they were far away, so there was no danger—just a nice touch of wild nature. Overall, it’s a peaceful, clean, and beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature.

Stopped in here in hopes to see some wildlife. While we did see several lizards, no dice on any larger wildlife such as alligators. The trails were beautiful and lush. There were 3 cars total and we only saw 2 other people for the hour we were there. Bathrooms were clean and convenient. A wash station was near the parking lot making it easy to rinse off before continuing the journey. Coming from California where summers are very dry it was refreshing to see moisture and greenery. Great stop to get outdoors for a walk and enjoy nature.

It's a beautiful spot to visit. I think rapids is a bit of a stretch. Of course It hasn't rained in the area in quite a while and a lot of it was dry but still.... More of a river disturbance. Still nice to see! Lots of boardwalk spots to get close to it and you can find little paths off the trail to go right down to it and sit there to enjoy the quiet. Was very quick to get to as well, flat and well maintained trail
