(from Google)I'm seeing very recent reports of a male that walks out there with his small dog that could possibly have mental problems based on his interaction with others on the trail. Take a buddy and at minimum some pepper spray with you.
This is a great hike. There are a few different routes to choose from depending on how difficult you want it to be. Best time to hike is spring when everything is green, but you can hike it all year.
This is one of my favorite hikes in the area, because of its nice views to everywhere around these hills. The trailhead is well maintained with maps and stuff but there is no restrooms there, and my car got broken into on a Friday afternoon.
5.5 mile loop around Zanja peak, at moderate difficulty. It took me almost 3 hours. I saw others running the trail, but not me. Steady pace, 1000+ elevations, bring your backpack.
This is a free trail... There no restrooms out there. Awesome view of yucaipa. Awesome view of inland empire when you get to the peak . It was an absolutely gorgeous day... You only hiccup was a few times I ran into some mountain bikers coming down the trailer bit fast. Lol they were all bikers greater than 40 years of age... It was a young and they were able to keep their pace. Go figure.
