The Proactive staff is amazing…not just in working with my reactive dog, but also in helping me to be more comfortable as his handler. They are knowledgeable, professional, and flexible in delivering their services. We can tell such a difference in our dog since he has been working with them. I highly recommend their training, boarding and daycare.

If I could give one hundred stars I would. I’ve read each of these reviews and I’ve personally spoken to several customers. To say that the reviews only scratch the surface of how great this company is, would be an understatement of mammoth proportions. I will start from the beginning and see if I can adequately describe for you just how great our experience has been. We rescued a mini Aussie and we loved him so much that we got another one. That was our first mistake. 😎 The boys started off as great friends but things took a turn very shortly and they began to fight. We did our best to handle it but things just got worse and worse. When we made the decision to seek help, we ‘interviewed’ a couple of people and they were very much a disappointment when we asked pointed questions about their experience and their perspective on training dogs. The third interview was with Javier. Like the others, he came to our house and spent time with the boys. At this point in time, both boys were leash aggressive, dog aggressive and people aggressive (along with their fighting) I kid you not, within MINUTES both dogs were listening to him and showing us that they could/would listen under the right circumstances. It was immediately clear that Javier has a deep love of dogs and a real passion for what he does. We originally signed up for individual classes as opposed to board and train (more on that later). On the first night we were there, as we were unloading our dogs, another customer was there and we spoke briefly. He said, and I quote, “Javier changed our lives!” I figured it was a little dramatic and maybe hyperbole, but he was correct. After trying the classes, we ultimately sent both boys to board and train and they flourished. They were taken almost daily for interactions in public (Bass Pro, Lowe’s, Cary dog park, etc…) and we were invited each time. We watched in amazement at their improvement. The only problem was the ingrained willingness to fight at the drop of a hat. It would happen so fast that my wife and I could never pick up the signs , as subtle as they were. THIS is where Javier, Brianna and the rest of the crew really shine. After watching the boys carefully, videotaping them and discussing their observations, it became apparent that one boy (Charlie) was giving very subtle gestures to the other boy (Walter) and things would blow up from that point. Prior to this revelation, we were assuming exactly the opposite, that Walter was going off on Charlie! When we brought them home, the fighting started up again, but we were able to keep it in check, for the most part. We told Javier about the situation and they were immediately brought back to him, at his insistence. When you drop your dogs there for training and Javier tells you that they back up their work and will assist you AFTER training, you can take him at his word. He kept Charlie and Walter until the “fight” in them was gone. They just came home today and all seems fine. They are acting like the dogs we hoped to have. If you have any doubts about Proactive, I hope I have put them to rest. Not only do WE love it, but our dogs love it as well. We are going to take them there for daycare and boarding when we are out of town. The boys love every one of Javier’s employees and it’s clear that the employees love them as well. We couldn’t be happier with our choice. EDIT: it is now 8-26-25 and the dawgs are doing extremely well. We have had zero fights and they are as close as they have ever been. They respect each other’s boundaries yet love each other. It is so great to have such wonderful dogs. We are enjoying every minute with them, thanks in very large part to Javier and his staff.

We enrolled Jack in Proactive's Ultimate Dog Package (21 days board & train) earlier this year. We love to tell people about his progress - how the reactive dog we enrolled gained so much confidence around people and dogs through their program (and with our consistent training afterward). I also feel much more confident with people in/around our home, though it's a continued work in progress! Javier and trainers are wonderful to work with and encourage you to come/participate on their "proofing" sessions during training, even after the board and train is over. And it's wonderful to know we can then board him at a safe place where he is loved and cared for when we're out of town. All in all, highly recommend.

There will never be enough words to express how grateful I am for the experience we had with Javier, Briana, and the entire team. From day one, it was clear that Javier was born to do this 🐺 his passion, patience, and dedication are unmatched. My two Belgian Malinois, Zeus and Afrika, were becoming extremely difficult to handle. We were overwhelmed and didn’t know how to move forward as a family. But everything changed when we met this amazing team. The transformation in our dogs is simply incredible. We now enjoy peace at home, safety during walks, and most importantly, the joy of living with well-behaved, balanced dogs. Zeus adores Javier and it’s obvious why. Every single person on his team gave their heart to this process. They truly care. They saw the potential in my dogs when I was losing hope, and they brought out the best in them. Thank you for giving us not just better dogs, but a better life as a family. I will always recommend you to anyone who wants real, lasting results rooted in love and respect for animals. Where do I start, I am thankful for Javier and his team for being so patience and understanding with our situation and I can’t thank him enough for helping us train our Dog. Walks are more easier and relaxing. Even though as a dog owner we have to continue to train our dog and be persisting on continuing the training at home, it has help us a lot in many ways. I can go to stores, he doesn’t run away just being outside, I can sit him in place when people are around. That has shown how much of a good trainer he had. I definitely recommend anyone that is having difficulty with their dog, to take them here.
