We cannot say enough amazing things about Heather and her team at Next-Door K9 Solutions of Charlotte! From the moment we met Heather, we knew our rescue pup Chance was in the best hands possible. Chance came to us as a sweet, high-energy puppy with zero training—he didn’t understand boundaries, had no concept of manners, and simply didn’t know how to stop or respond to “no.” It was clear he needed professional help, and Heather delivered beyond our expectations. After just 3 weeks in her board and train program, Chance came home a completely transformed dog—in the best way possible. He still had his lovable, goofy personality, but now he had confidence, structure, and the ability to listen and respond. He genuinely seems happier knowing what’s expected of him and thrives on making us proud. The joy he shows when he earns a reward is priceless, and it’s all thanks to Heather’s incredible training and dedication. Heather didn’t just train Chance—she empowered us as dog owners, too. Her professionalism, knowledge, and care are unmatched. We truly feel like we have a strong foundation now, and we’re excited to continue working with her through follow-up training sessions. With that being said, we actually had her watch Chance and do follow up training with him while we were out of the country on our honeymoon - we loved leaving him with her knowing he was with someone we trusted fully. If you’re considering training for your pup, do yourself and your dog a favor—call Heather. We will always recommend her and Next-Door K9 Solutions to everyone we know. Thank you, Heather, for giving us the very best version of Chance!!!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

My daughter’s rescue dog had completed in-home training with a different trainer, but had started to display some problematic behaviors that necessitated additional intervention. We had heard mixed things about boarding training programs, and were Hesitant after speaking with a number of companies. But then my daughter discovered Next-Door K9 Charlotte online and it sounded like the perfect solution. The on boarding administrator went above and beyond to explain the services to us and help us feel comfortable with a boarding training option. She was patient, readily available and knowledgeable throughout our decision-making process. She was exceptionally flexible in accommodating Some initial scheduling issues, and was committed to helping us find a viable path forward. She identified Heather as the perfect trainer for our dog, and that was definitely the case! Heather addressed each of his problematic behaviors and identified various contributing factors/triggers to those behaviors. She understood, not only our dog, but also his unique living situation that created certain parameters to his daily living experience. She seemed to intuitively grasp the complexity of the situation, and came up with solutions that were readily and effectively applied. At the end of his training, she provided a thorough in-home training tutorial for my daughter that was clear, easy to understand and comprehensive. She also presented the option of having my daughter‘s dog board with her during weeks when my daughter is at school, which was the perfect solution for what seemed like an insurmountable dilemma for our family. We have had great peace of mind having her in the expert hands of Heather during times when my daughter cannot take care of him. And as a bonus, we can add supplemental training sessions as needed. Next-Door K9 “rescued” both our rescue dog and us when we were in a situation that was Starting to feel somewhat desperate and hopeless. We love our dog very, very much and our eternally grateful to Heather and the team.

My family adopted a dog (Remi) from the shelter, not knowing the extent of her past. Remi started getting comfortable in the house, but not liking people coming into her space. I was told to seek help from K9 Solutions and I was paired with Erin, who has a background with aggressive type dogs. Erin was so patient with us, worked with our schedule, and helped out so much with our girl. I’ve even had Blair, who is another trainer there, watch Remi if we go out of town. Even though we are done with training, I know that if I ever need anything or have any questions, any of the staff wouldn’t hesitate to help!

I highly recommend Heather from Next Door K-9 Solutions! We contacted her when our Great Dane puppy started to show anxiety and that anxiety was turning into aggression. We opted for weekly training visits where Heather would come to the house and show me what to do. We started with the basics and moved up from there. When she left I was responsible for the daily practice of skills we worked on. She was very knowledgeable about what each individual dog needs. She was also very patient. I never felt like I was being rushed or that I was doing something wrong. She broke it down into steps and it was easy. Don’t get me wrong, training an aggressive dog is not easy but she gave me the confidence to do the work every day. I saw weekly improvements with my dog. After our weekly training sessions were done, Heather took him on a “day train” once/month where they would go on “field trips” to practice his skills at the park, stores, her house, etc. He loved Heather and would hop right up into her car with no problem. For an aggressive dog to only see her once/month but get excited when he saw her tells me he trusted her and enjoyed the activities they did. He gained confidence going places which gave me confidence when working with him, too. If you are looking for a trainer that gives you options, is patient and straight up with you, Heather will not disappoint!
