First Class Canine Training

The way I came in contact with Dave is interesting. There's a gentleman in my neighborhood that walks 3 Labrador Retrievers and I took note of how well behaved and trained they are. My dogs are high energy rescues that didn't walk well on the leash and generally didn't listen. I stopped the fellow and asked him about their training and he gave all of the credit to Dave. I got the contact number and reached out. My dogs were with Dave for two weeks and they came home knowing basic obedience commands, which was the goal. When we picked up our dogs, Dave gave us instruction on how to reinforce the training. He took his time to make sure we understood what needed to be done. Dave is very good at what he does and is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to dog behavior. We see a marked improvement in our dogs behavior and most importantly when they behave in a way that we are not happy with, we have the tools to correct it. I highly recommend Dave. He is the "real deal" when it comes to dog training.

We spent a lot of time researching trainers for our 10-month-old Vizsla, who has extremely high energy and needed to master basic obedience. After speaking with several trainers, we decided on Dave, and it was the best decision we could have made. From the very first phone consultation, Dave’s professionalism and knowledge stood out. He asked all the right questions and never made me feel silly for struggling. When we met him in person, we immediately felt we could trust him. Our dog stayed with Dave for a two-week board and train program and came back a completely transformed version of himself. He is still the same sweet, energetic puppy, but now he understands boundaries, etiquette, and discipline. The biggest improvement has been on walks. He heels beautifully and is so much calmer and more focused. At pickup, Dave spent plenty of time teaching us how to maintain everything our dog learned. He explained everything clearly, gave us a detailed guide to reference at home, and made sure we felt confident before leaving. He is also incredibly responsive and always just a phone call away. We are so grateful for the care, structure, and effort Dave put into training our dog, Saint. The experience was absolutely worth the investment. 10000% would do it again.

We sent our dog and animal reactive pit bull puppy to Dave for a board and train, and we’re so happy with the results. He helped her build a strong foundation in basic obedience, and taking her outside is now much more manageable. Her reactivity has improved, and we feel more confident handling her. Dave was also extremely communicative, especially after we brought her home—answering all our questions and guiding us through the next steps and even sent home thorough instructions for each command that we regularly reference. Dave is a wonderful trainer to work with. He is very knowledgeable and detail oriented. Unlike other trainers he never uses the excuse "it's a German Shepherd." He creates an effective plan for you and your dog. We highly recommend using Dave if you want a well behaved and balanced dog.

I highly recommend Dave and First Class Canine Training! Shiloh's behavior was out of control. I was very aware of typical husky behaviors after having one for 10 years, but this was beyond anything I could handle. I tried classes and even had a trainer come to my home. Nothing worked! She was a bully to the other pets, did not listen and carried on at all hours. After a year, I was desperate. Dave worked with Shiloh for 2 1/2 weeks, I was skeptical that there would be any changes. I was very wrong! I picked up a totally different dog! She is sweet, obedient and is eager to please. I've continued with her lessons at home just as Dave instructed me. Five months later she is still the new improved husky Dave helped her become. I am forever grateful for the transformation in Shiloh.
