You often see reviews that begin with…” if I could give 100 stars I would” & I think the reviewer must be a relative or close friend… But in this instance, it is not hyperbole or bias that I say without hesitation, our experience with Bill Balatsos and Krista Mayer at Balanced Behavior Dog Training has from end to end been nothing short of exceptional as they are both dedicated, compassionate and talented professionals; meeting and exceeding all expectations for the care and training of our Sweet George Washington! We searched online and local shelters for someone who needed a new forever home…. We found “George”; a 1 ½ year old, Terrier, Poodle, Labrador, Pitbull mix (yes ALL of that rolled into one 90lb. bundle of fun!) When we adopted George, his full background was unknown he was reactive to new people and things which was just about everything and everyone; sweet but willful, destructive & unpredictable. First George spent 2 weeks at a board & train facility—while he had learned a few basic commands, the transition back to our home was incomplete & our root concerns-reactivity, calmly adjusting to new circumstances, socialization had not been addressed. Next we tried a local group training program—that was even worse as it was a cookie-cutter experience where owners of the “bad dogs” were “encouraged” to use CBD calming treats before the dog came to class!! Again, never taking time to understand George’s challenges. Finding Balanced Behavior Dog Training: Disappointed and almost ready to accept that George’s life & experiences were going to need limitations, a friend happened to mention her friend’s dog had just completed GOAT Training and I might want to give Bill a call--- It was the BEST call I could have EVER made— Bill thoughtfully listed to our previous experiences and encouraged me to give George (and I) a new opportunity to learn through their G.O.A.T program. I was concerned that the program design would conflict with my irregular work travel schedule--- Bill was understanding and did not hesitate to accommodate our class schedule to meet my needs. Each class had a tailored pace with specific goals for George’s success— a mix of learning physical and mental experiences, learning/training interaction, physical activities, confidence building, and equally important—constructive relaxation/down time. Training debriefs were equally structured & on point-- Expectations were clear & consistent. This is/ was key to our in-home follow-up success in between sessions. Their commitment to the progressive “building block basic” learning has also been an invaluable training tool we have adopted in our home. George successfully “graduated” G.O.A.T training & we could not be happier—George is more confident with a solid understanding of his expectations & boundaries. We’ve learned the importance of clarity & follow through working with George— clarity is meaningless without consistent follow-through from us. Beyond G.O.A.T:We”re thrilled to be able to continue other training support opportunities offered. We participate in the Stay and Train Program – a tremendous constructive & day train. We also truly appreciate the In-Home Training Visit option: George had great anxiety with his first few veterinarian visits— We arranged for an “on-site” vet support visit where Bill joined us to ensure George and our Vet had a good checkup. While this review is longer than most, I sincerely hope that it reflects the gifted behavioral training talents and gifted genius of the programs Bill and Krista have developed. But their talents go far beyond “dog training” as their genuine commitment and compassion for God’s special creatures and those who care for them come from their hearts. If any of our experiences resonate with you & your pup, please take the time to speak with Bill and Krista—you will not regret the time and investment-- We are ever grateful to you both!! Our George is now ready and eager to romp through a full, happy and safe life – we could not ask for anything more!!!

I probably cant articulate enough what a great experience we had with Balanced Behavior Dog Training. We adopted a puppy from the shelter in early November. Since he was a shelter pup of 6 months we had little background on his history. After a few weeks his energetic and sassy behavior really started to show itself and we knew he would need training. Upon our initial meeting with Bill and Chrysta we were impressed by their knowledge, professionalism, and approach to training and decided this was the place for us and our pup. Each training session was organized and followed up with showing us what work we needed to do with our dog and some behavioral modification we needed to work on. Upon graduating from the program our dog’s behavior improved for the better. He no longer tugs on the leash during walks, he’s no longer reactive on walks, his puppy nipping has been reduced to nothing, he listens to commands, and loves his crate. Moreover, they taught us how to run our high energy dog on the treadmill which was much needed during the cold January. This really was a life changing experience for all of us. I had a much stronger bond with my dog and he is very aware of our expectations. This would have never been achieved on our own and without the knowledge and dedication of Balanced Behavior - Bill and Chrysta. Although our pup has graduated the program we continue to drop him off once a week because it is his absolute FAVORITE place to go. I highly recommend them!!!

It’s hard to know where to begin with this review. I am a single mom to a miniature Australian Shepherd, Marshall. I truly believed I could raise and train him on my own by watching YouTube videos. I was wrong. Every part of caring for him felt overwhelming. He became unpredictable, reactive, and developed severe guarding behaviors that terrified me. I was bitten twice, and so were members of my family. I felt defeated and ashamed to admit I needed help. Thankfully, my sister found Bill and Krista at Balanced Behavior. From the very first consultation, they listened carefully and created a training plan that worked around my unusual schedule. My family helped with drop-offs and pick-ups, and I would attend classes after work to learn everything Marshall was being taught. Bill and Krista provided one-on-one training and, more importantly, helped me understand why Marshall behaved the way he did. They taught me structure, discipline, and how to communicate in a way Marshall could understand. They were patient, supportive, and always willing to answer questions. Each class left us feeling hopeful and excited for the next. Bill even scheduled an in-home visit, which was incredibly insightful. We practiced real-life scenarios, including safely working through a resource-guarding situation using high-value treats. For the first time, I felt confident instead of afraid. Bill reminded me that while he teaches and guides, success comes from consistency and dedication at home. That encouragement meant everything to me. Today, I can walk Marshall with confidence and be relaxed. He no longer pulls, barks excessively, or reacts the way he once did. Marshall can be his true happy self. I feel confident, structured, and connected to my dog in a way I never thought possible. Because of this I can now say I have the loving connection I was looking for in the beginning. I am beyond grateful to Bill and Krista at Balanced Behavior for transforming not only Marshall’s behavior, but my confidence as a dog owner. Seeking professional help was the best decision I could have made. Thank you, Balanced Behavior!

GOAT Training: I was referred to Balanced Behavior Dog Training by a coworker of mine, which happens to be Bill’s brother! I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Bill and Krista. When Cannoli had just turned one, I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure how to help her through her separation anxiety, crate training struggles, and high energy. From the very first consultation, Bill and Krista took the time to sit with me, truly listen to my concerns, and thoughtfully observe Cannoli’s behavior. For the first time, I felt heard, understood, and hopeful. The change in Cannoli has been nothing short of life-changing. She is calmer, more confident, and genuinely happier, and the stress I once felt as dog owner has been replaced with peace and trust. What meant so much to me was how invested Bill and Krista were in My success as well—making me part of the process… always taking the time to walk me through a lesson when I picked her up, giving me homework, and empowering me to continue the work at home. We both still have work to do going forward. However, It reminded me that real progress comes from patience, consistency, and partnership. What once felt impossible now feels manageable and full of hope. Thank you, Bill and Krista, for your incredible knowledge, compassion, dedication, and the care you showed Cannoli. The impact you’ve had on both of our lives goes far beyond training, and we will always be grateful. THANK YOU! 100% recommend!!!

We were referred to Balanced Behavior by our son, a friend of the owner Bill. Our then 8 mo old puppy is a blue heeler- very high energy, very smart, very mischievous and no boundaries. We were pretty much at the end of our rope with her, and were considering rehoming her. Bill and Krista saved us from having to give her up. I can’t say enough wonderful things about their dedication to helping not just the dog, but just as importantly, the owners. We are still a work in progress with high expectations of having a well behaved pet. If you have a “problem “ dog or you just want your dog to be a better version of itself, please send them to Bill. You will be happy you did!
