Kindred Dog PDX Dog Training

Ruben really knows dogs! We had about 8 one-on-one sessions with him for both of big our dogs. We learned so much about their psychology and how to work with them related to issues with pulling on the leash and one who barks at every delivery driver he sees. For our easier dog, walking improved after just one session of training. For our more challenging dog, we are still learning how to show up with consistency to improve his difficult behaviors, but Ruben has show us that, with enough patience, it is possible. Ruben is a clear communicator and makes himself available to answer any questions that come up. Highly recommend!

I had a really great experience working with Ruben. He’s super knowledgeable and has such a calm and gentle way of working with dogs. Even after just one session, I felt like I learned a ton and I actually saw immediate results with my dog. We focused on how my dog becomes a maniac when people come over and he taught me really some practical ways to help him calm down and learn new commands. On top of that, he’s just a genuinely friendly and kind person, which made the whole experience really comfortable. I’d absolutely recommend him.

I saw a tik tok posted by Kindred which intrigued me and I was especially excited to see they were in Portland. Ruben Montes then invited me to a webinar about Kindred’s 4 week essentials course which I have been in for more than 4 weeks now at this point! The 4 week essentials course is FANTASTIC. Its objective is to help you build engagement and relationship with your dog through toy and food games and then build to training skills. Since starting this training course, my dog’s behavior has gotten so much easier to manage!! Also in the middle of the course, my dog got really sick and required hospitalization which delayed training. Ruben is still having calls with me despite having gone over the 4 weeks! Highly recommend the 4 week essentials course! All you need for it is access to the course, a treat bag, kibble, and your dog! (Oh and a lot of willingness to work with your dog.)

Ruben is great! I had my first session a few days ago and am already grateful for the expertise and guidance I've received. I hired Kindred Dog shortly before getting my new puppy and was relieved to see Ruben and Shane had a deep catalog of training videos so that I would be able to hit the ground running once the puppy arrived. This is my first time having and puppy and leading up to our first session I reached out multiple times with various questions and have gotten timely, thoughtful and informative responses. During our first lesson Ruben was kind, approachable and easy to interact with while giving pointers on things we're doing and how to build on them. I feel vastly more comfortable in my abilities to raise a puppy properly knowing that I have Ruben's expertise to lean on and am looking forward to continuing to work with him!

Ruben and Shane are great! Our dog went from sweet, but chaotic, to sweet, confident, and calm. The personal classes really helped fix a lot of the mistakes we were making as owners, we got ready feedback from the videos and tips between classes, and the group classes developed a dog that stays calm when other dogs are active. Pepper is a dog that needed direction, and now she's a perfect pup.
