South Boulder Animal Hospital

Dr Martin, the techs, and everyone else at South Boulder Animal Hospital are great. When I’ve brought my dog in, they’ve always been great about thoroughly explaining treatment options and answering all of my questions. They are also kind and supportive, so I definitely recommend them for your pet.

I brought my 14.5 year-old dog in with serious health concerns. The vet walked in and for the first ten minutes drilled me about getting my dog’s expired rabies vaccine up to date until I gave in. He did not address my dog’s actual health condition, and my dog died the next day. Good thing I got him that rabies vaccine though 🙄

The staff are super friendly and were great with my dog who is a little anxious in general! I was suprised at the bill after a 30 minute appointment and the charge of $170 to have a radiologist read my pets x-ray on top of the standard x-ray charge and exam etc which I know reading an 3 set x-ray will take 5 min or less. I think they could have done a better job of being cost transparent as not everyone in boulder can afford exorbitant pet fees and I wanted to rule out an infection in my dogs paw and I wasn't really worried about a fracture or arthritis. I think if they spent some time to review the indications for why they recommended x-rays and reviewed the diagnostic criteria more with me I wouldn't have as much of a sinking feeling like I made a mistake with my budgeting - there are probably something like ottawa rules for dogs for reasons to get x-rays and I had a feeling even if we were to find something it wouldn't change the plan of care - so just something to be aware of and maybe probe a little bit if you're financially strained like I am.

I’ve worked in the veterinary field for a few years and have visited many hospitals, but I was truly impressed by how compassionate, helpful, and proactive South Boulder Animal Hospital was when I brought in the dog I was pet sitting. They went out of their way to get us in on a Saturday and provided exceptional care. Dr. Anderson was incredibly kind and supportive, following up with results the same day and checking in afterward. Having experienced many hospitals as both a vet professional and a client, I felt compelled to write this review because the level of care here genuinely stands out. Thank you, South Boulder Animal Hospital, for your kindness and dedication to both pets and the people who care for them.

I was lucky to hear about South Boulder Animal Hospital. They got my Bean in right away when he needed to be seen as soon as possible. The staff is extremely courteous, accommodating, and friendly. We will always come back to see the wonderful Dr. Duncan. We chose SoBo as Bean’s primary care immediately because his comfort and care is always top priority. We appreciate this deeply having poor experiences at other facilities with our past pups.
