The best veterinary clinic, we had to say goodbye to our dog today and their staff was so comforting throughout the entire process. I’d never been through that before, one of the most hardest and difficult things I’ve ever gone through. But how they let us comfort him in his final time and be there for him and talked with us through it we appreciate more than we can say. Budd was a great dog, gentle and kind till the very end and had a great life. Thank you for being there for him and our family through this hard time.

I had a wonderful experience with Highway 30 Vet Clinic. When I called with a concern about possible sago palm toxicity, they got Alice in the same day, which immediately put me at ease. That level of responsiveness meant so much in a stressful moment. I also recently brought my dog, Axl, in for his general vaccine appointment, and the team was incredibly thorough. They took extra care to help with his car anxiety, which I really appreciated; it made the whole experience much smoother for both of us. From the moment we arrived, everyone was welcoming, kind, and genuinely caring toward both me and my pet. The staff took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I felt comfortable with every step of the visit. The level of care and attention to detail really stood out, and it’s clear they truly love what they do. I’m so grateful to have a veterinary team I can trust, and I highly recommend Highway 30 Vet Clinic to anyone looking for compassionate and attentive care!

We are so thankful to have found Highway 30 Vet Clinic. The entire staff is amazing - Dr Kelly is our favorite! She listens and loves on our fur baby every time we’re there. They take their time to explain every treatment and answer every question. I couldn’t imagine a more personable vet. My dog, Murphy, literally drags me through the door to get inside. He loves everyone in the building! Would recommend!!

Here's What YOU Need To Know Before Taking Your Beloved Pet To Highway 30 Veterinary Clinic: ======================================= Fantastic reception, techs, doctors, and surgeons. Everyone is super knowledgable within their own respective wheelhouse, anything they aren't certain of, they find out fast. They are very proactive, and willing to explain complicated concepts, & discuss alternative strategies, treatments, and interventions. There isn't a hospital for doggos that I could in good conscience, advocate for above this place. They are the best and the only small animal vet I trust with my baby doggos - even if those baby doggos aren't babies anymore (but 5 & 11. lol) If you're on the fence? Stop it, Desperado. Climb down, and get on board with Highway 30 Veterinary Clinic and trust your favorite pets to the best of the best! ======================================= Images: The first 2 images are the girls (my dogs, Zero & Mindy) at the vet's office on Tuesday. The next 3, Mindy (age:11) on the 2 days prior to her big ole mouth surgery & sedated cleaning, she'd been showing signs of pain while chewing. The 6th pic (yellow "collar" *flower*) is her on the way back home from her big surgery (Thursday). The last 4 are Mindy today (Friday: Day after surgery), as she's resting and recovering. Thank you SO much for helping her feel better! ======================================= Dog Restricted To a Wet Diet? Consider This Before Cracking Open a Can of Sub-Rate Slop: ======================================= If you have a senior doggo who needs wet food for a period after a surgery? Here's what I bought. You can probably get away with either. I got both, because spoiled: Royal Canin Recovery RS ==================== • Texture: Smooth, mousse-like, zero chewing required • Purpose: Post-surgical tissue healing, increases calorie intake when appetite is low • Why it is ideal: High fat and protein content for tissue repair, extremely palatable so dogs eat even when uncomfortable • Use for first 7 to 21 days OR Hill’s a/d Critical Care ==================== • Texture: Thin paste, can be thinned further with warm water • Purpose: Healing, weight maintenance, tissue repair • Why it is ideal: This is literally the standard ICU recovery diet in vet hospitals • Easy to lick, no chewing stress on sutures Both of these are/were available at the local BCS (Bryan / College Station) PetSmart on University by Home Depot / Texas Roadhouse. You will need a prescription. NOT because they contain drugs though, here's why (a warning): Why They Require a Prescription ==================== These formulas are: • High-calorie • High-protein • High-fat • Highly digestible • Designed for animals with suppressed appetite, surgical recovery, or systemic stress They are intended for dogs who are not eating normally or are healing from surgery or illness. They are strong diets, not everyday maintenance foods. The BIG Concern: ==================== If used in a healthy dog with: • Normal metabolism • Normal kidney function • No tissue-healing requirement They can: • Put unnecessary metabolic load on kidneys and pancreas • Cause diarrhea or pancreatitis in sensitive dogs • Lead to rapid weight gain if fed long-term • Mask underlying disease by boosting appetite but not addressing cause ======================================= Finally, I am NOT a vet, nor am I pretending to be one. ^ So none of what I've written above should be construed as advice of any kind. This is just what I did with my 11 year old Staffordshire Terrier because I love her more than life, and know I'm not the only one who cares about muh puppo more than anything else. It's just from one puppy papa to another puppy parent. Please do not misconstrue this as anything but that & only that. It's nothing more, nothing less. Consult with one of the docs at this clinic to see if this choice is right for you & your favorite lil' CarpetShark™️. God bless! ✌🏼
