Mizzou Small Animal Hospital

Can't say enough nice things about the staff and the care they provide. From the checkin desk and cashier desk, to all the staff, students, and residents in multiple different departments, we have had great care of our Gerald at Mizzou and everyone shows empathy in every encounter.

Our baby injured her back. We thought she was going to need to be euthanized. Our vet sent us three hours away, to the small animal hospital in Columbia. The care was exceptional. Dr. Toporis explained everything…clearly. Costs were explained, up front. He gave us an honest prognosis and helped us decide what to do. It was very expensive to save her. But we never felt pressured, one way or another. Every single person we met was kind and helpful and professional. We are beyond grateful.

We haven't been here in years and had a very sick cat that we brought in... She was misdiagnosed and was given a estimate to treat based on that information. We left her with a deposit hopeful that she could be saved. We later received a call that the diagnosis was wrong. We are 4 hrs away and I would not left her and let them run us up a huge bill that was not needed... I say make wise decisions when gking to this business.

We were referred to Dr. Giuliano in Ophthalmology after unimpressive visits with 2 other specialists in St. Louis and Oklahoma- one of which had suggested we should prepare ourselves for our dog to lose his eye. Then we met Dr. Giuliano who is incredible in her field and who we credit with saving our dog’s eye and vision. Since we have been under her care, his eyes have been stable with no new issues. She tailors care to the dog realizing what works for some doesn’t always work with others. Even though we don’t live locally we will forever be a lifelong patient because it’s worth the drive! It is a very busy facility so be prepared for it to be a much longer process from the time you check in to the time you leave the appt but your animal will receive excellent care and thats the important part!
