Restful Paws

Making the decision to put my dog down and releive him from his pain was one of the hardest things I've had to do. He was my loyal friend, companion and like a son to me as I never had any kids. I was first highly referred to a place called lap of love, but they didn't service my area so I had to just choose one randomly off the internet which worried me as I wanted to make sure it went smooth, peaceful and painless. I did not want my dogs last memory going out to be fear and panic! I contacted restful paws and I think she was worried he may be too big and over her 75 lb weight limit when I said he was a pitbull, so she told me other places I could go. I told her he was only 61 lbs now because he was so old and lost so much weight so she agreed to come. Dr. Liu was a very compassionate woman and was very professional. She came in quietly, came to where my poor boy was laying and began to quietly explain the process to me. It all went at my own pace, she did not rush me and it did go smoothly. He went down easy, in my arms nibbling his last bacon treat and cookie while I pet him and nuzzled our heads together to comfort him. I cried and needed to go get a tissue after sedation and before the final shot. She patiently waited while I pulled it together in my bathroom. Once it was done she got a gurny to put him on and my brother helped her carry him out because I just had open heart surgery where they cut my ribs in half so I could not lift anything yet. She made a clay paw, got me some hair clippings and a put them in a little bag with paws on it that was see through. She explained the cremation process and told me how to pick my urn. It went as good as something like this could go. I'd definitely recommend them to friends and family when the time comes.
