Marina Bay Animal Hospital

Yesterday, I brought my other dog to this clinic and had a very positive experience, which is exactly why I decided to return today with my French Bulldog. Unfortunately, today’s visit with Dr. Cynthia McCauley was completely different. During the appointment, I offered multiple times to help hold and calm my own dog, but I was not allowed to assist in any way. No muzzle was suggested, and no meaningful attempt was made to safely restrain or work with him. Instead, I was told to take him home, sedate him, and bring him back later. At one point, they even suggested covering him with a blanket. However, many experienced veterinarians understand that anxious dogs are often much more defensive when separated from their owners, which is exactly what happened here. They took him away alone and brought him back a couple of minutes later without administering the injection. This same dog has been treated by many veterinarians in different countries with the exact same behavior, and I have never experienced anything like this before. He even received a Cytopoint injection at another clinic just one month ago without any issue. I chose Marina Bay because the other clinic is an hour away while this one is only five minutes from my home. Also, the veterinarian we saw yesterday was amazing. What made this especially frustrating was the inconsistency within the same clinic. One day I had an excellent experience, and the next day the complete opposite. The difference between the two veterinarians was night and day. Despite the injection not being administered, I was still charged a $94 exam fee. In the end, I spent $204 and left without the Cytopoint injection, only with oral allergy medication after a very frustrating experience. At that point, I was simply exhausted and accepted the pills because there seemed to be no realistic effort or ability to handle the situation properly. It is now 1 AM, and my dog still cannot sleep because of the itching and constant paw licking that the Cytopoint injection was supposed to help relieve. If you have an anxious or reactive dog, you may want to ask detailed questions beforehand about how your pet will be handled and which veterinarian you will be seeing. I wish they had been upfront that they may not be able to safely handle anxious or defensive dogs, and that their care may only be suitable for dogs who are calm and fully cooperative during injections. I have been taking my cat and dog to Marina Bay Vet for close to 10 years. Dr. Bordlee and the entire staff have taken excellent care of both my pets. The boarding staff as well as the front office and technicians are so caring, friendly, and efficient. I recently had to have my sweet dog euthanized, and they were so compassionate and caring. I felt so much peace through such a difficult time because of Dr. Bordlee and the entire staff.

Maggie, the sweetest Min Dachshundever, began and sadly ended, her long life under the care of the Marina Bay Animal Hospital. At only 8 weeks old my newly aquired friend was diagnosed with both Parvo and Coccidia… almost a surely fatal situation. Both are bad enough alone. After 11 days of 24 hour care I brought her home and we were Besties for 17 years and 8 months when her condition required we make the difficult, but necessary, decision. She lead a long, happy, and healthy, life from beginning to end with the capable and kind staff through misadventures such as eating a stuffed toy full of polyester, a very short ride with a hawk, and the results of her curiosity about storm drains. Their system of tracking her checkups, testing, and various inoculations, was very helpful. When required…. their caring attention was confidence inspiring. Everyone, on every visit, gave 100% to Maggie for almost 18 years John (for Maggie)

We took our precious Daisy (golden retriever) in for a swollen paw and severe limping. Upon arrival the staff immediately made us (and Daisy) feel at home. The office was immaculate, clean and smelled wonderful. I would have appreciated it longer but it wasn't more than a few minutes before we were seen. Dr. Martinez and her vet tech (I'm sorry I didn't remember her name, I'm old) were so friendly, gentle and thorough. We knew Daisy was in good hands. We left confident we'd provided (through Marina Bay Hospital) the best possible care for our fur baby. And the cherry on top was that the price was completely reasonable and far less than I'd planned/dreaded/assumed. I can definitely see why Marina Bay Hospital is the vet of choice for so many of our neighbors.
