Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region Pueblo Veterinary Wellness Clinic

Our first visit at this clinic was very delightful. Staff was very friendly and gave us some informative information about our brand new eight week old puppy. They gave her all her shots and dewormed her with no issues after waiting for weeks to get her second doses of shots and dewormer it went fairly well after leaving our puppy on the same day that shots were given her shoulder, swelled up the size of a lime so we did what any other animal owner would do we call back the clinic and informed them of what was going on. They told us that it was not their problem and that if the swelling did not go down or got bigger, we were to just take our dog to the emergency animal clinic, which we would’ve had to pay for and if anybody knows about emergency animal clinics they are not cheap so they not only didn’t offer to bring our puppy back so they could just evaluate the situation in Person. They also told us that we could not come back to that clinic because the puppy had a reaction to the shots I think it was highly unprofessional of them to not see our puppy to make sure that it wasn’t anything serious.

I don't remember humane society being so expensive or difficult hoops to jump through to adopt a pet. Confusing and frustrating. Appointments to see animals, only a certain number to see per day, $50 "hold fee" and not being able to visit with a foster animal before being adopted. I think they just want you to pay for adoption and then bring the animal back due to incompatibility. "Oh we list animal tendencies online"....Yeah but if we cannot connect before adoption, how do we know after paying $500 if the animal will be a good fit. The system is set up for failure... for animal and human. Is this only in Colorado? In other states it is much less cumbersome and a whole heck of a lot of animals are adopted. What happens to these poor furry's due to this process at Pikes Peak?

Took my mom’s new 8 month puppy for vaccinations and neutering. Was able to get him in days after adopting him. Price was great for everything he had done. The puppy didn’t have any shots and they got him all caught up and neutered.

Friendly, fast and clean.

For basic vaccines this place is totally fine if you can’t find a vet. But Dr bittle is rude and uses exaggerated statistics about cancer to try and guilt you into getting your animals spayed when it’s too soon. My dogs breed can develop orthopedic and hormonal issues if spayed too early. Period. There’s also SEVERAL breeds of dogs that have increased cancer risks if spayed too early. I strongly encourage pet owners to do their own research for breed specific risk factors It’s recommended to wait 12-18 months for my dogs SPECIFIC breed. Dr bittle gave the most fear mongering stats that don’t apply to my dog. The real statistics. Spay before 1st heat 0.5% risk Spay after 1st heat 8% risk She tried to make it sound like if I let my dog have her first heat before spay, that’s she’s flat out going to get cancer and she was trying to make me feel guilty about it “if you wanna prioritize physical development over cancer prevention then that’s up to you” and she interrupted me trying to tell her I did my research, so she could make sure to try and guilt me into something not right for my dog Highly recommend this place for vaccines and spays but NOT for veterinary advice concerning spay, because the real reason they push for people to spay as early as 12 weeks, is to prevent accidental litters, not for you breed specific pets actual long term health.
