(from Google)I do not recommend this place to anyone who need serious attention for their pets. My ex recently brought in her cat who started experiencing fluid around the eyes and lost eyesight in her right eye and left is not far behind. Turns out it's optical FIP which HAS a treatment though experimental from what I was told. And heritage didn't mention this once in the three hours my ex was in that office. She managed to get them to order the medication and we are hopeful it works but it is beyond unprofessional to immediately opt for euthanizing rather than putting ALL options on the table from the start. That's her baby and to even think that they did this is disgusting. How do you end up going to school for years on a subject and manage to order the wrong dosage of medicine for an animal?! Managed to get them to order the medicine a day or two after initial appointment and come to find out the dosage is short for what is actually needed for the pets weight. Like are they trying to kill the cat? Whoever this doctor was i would not trust him or her with a damn cockroach. Sickens me to see this carelessness and downright unprofessionalism for something as basic as a dosage amount. Clearly they need to spend some time studying FIP
I’m writing this with intention and a heavy heart. Heritage had been generally fine for routine care, but our emergency visit on 2/19/26 left me utterly devastated. My sweet girl, Dragona, developed a cloudy left eye and went fully blind within hours. Both pupils dilated, and the right eye began turning cloudy as well, though she still had some vision. During the appointment, she actively declined — going from walking and seeing to bumping into things. At this point, I started sobbing. She is not “just a pet.” She is my heart outside my body. They ran bloodwork, blood pressure (which they suspected was the issue with her eye), and an eye pressure test. The blood draw did not go well and I was asked to leave the room. When it came time for the eye pressure test, neither the vet nor the tech knew how to use the equipment and had to remove my cat to find someone who did. In an emergency situation, that is unacceptable. After nearly two hours, the vet rushed through the results so quickly I could barely process what was being said. The message was essentially that my cat had ocular FIP and that it was a death sentence. My options were presented as comfort care or euthanasia. The only resources offered were an at-home euthanasia service and a grief counseling website. There was no mention of antiviral treatment — despite the fact that FIP is no longer automatically fatal with proper intervention. I had to discover this myself through research. When I later confronted the vet, I was told the medication wasn’t mentioned because it is “expensive and experimental” and that my cat would never regain vision in the affected eye. That is not a decision to withhold from an owner. Lost vision in one eye is not equivalent to a life without value. My cat was still eating, drinking, using the litter box, and playing. She deserved full disclosure of all available options. It gets worse. When I called and requested a prescription be sent to a pharmacy that carries the antiviral medication, the dosage prescribed was incorrect for her weight and type of FIP. With FIP treatment, correct dosing — especially early in recovery — is extremely critical. Underdosing is one of the primary reasons for treatment failure. This was not a minor oversight. Additionally, Dragona was due for her wellness exam and rabies vaccine — something reflected in her records and reminders I’ve been receiving. This was never mentioned during the visit. Throughout this entire emotional process, there was no compassion expressed. I felt rushed out while my cat, who is a vital part of my family, was suffering and I was falling apart. Had I not done my own research and advocated for her, my baby may not be here. If you are coming for routine care, you may be fine. But if you are facing a serious emergency and need up-to-date knowledge, precision, and empathy please proceed with caution or consider other hospitals.
I’ve loved going to Heritage, they take such good care of my anxious dog and go out of their way to make sure she feels cared for. The staff are kind and helpful. They even send emails to check in on how my dogs are doing, and we get such personalized care. I plan on switching all of my 4 dogs care over to them because I know they will be very well taken care of.
Dr. Brown and the team at heritage have been such a blessing. Between their consideration and care for my reactive dog and the gentle nature with having to put my cat to sleep I am so beyond grateful to have them as my vet now. 10/10. They’re the best in the business!
Our two old labs get excellent care at Heritage Pet Hospital. One of them has on going health issues that require special attention, and Dr. Brown and the rest of the team have been very helpful in managing those issues, improving her quality of life.
