Great personalities, extremely knowledgeable, and truly great listeners. Their prices are also very reasonable. My toy poodle suffers from seizures and now a collapsing trachea, so finding the right vet is incredibly important to me. I was honestly shocked at the difference between this clinic and my previous vet. I’m so grateful I made the switch!

The entire staff, as always, friendly, courteous, caring. Saw a new Doc today, really liked her a lot. The staff gives you help, education, great place for caring for your pets. I had to put down my 18 year old dog this year, a tough experience by any stretch, but it was handled so respectfully, he was suffering so I know I made the right decision. Still miss him every day. They made the experience tolerable and easier to deal with for me. I seen a lot of vet practices in my 71 years, they are the tops!

I cannot say enough good things about Tidewater Animal Clinic. After having a frustrating experience at another vet, where my dog’s post-neuter rash was brushed off with “I don’t know what that is”, I brought him here for a second opinion. From the moment we walked in, the difference was night and day. The staff took the time to let my dog warm up to them, giving him treats and letting him feel comfortable before even beginning the exam. They were so patient, gentle, and genuinely caring. I asked if they could check both his paw and his incision/rash, and they happily did everything I needed without making me feel rushed. They quickly identified what the other vet completely missed: a staph infection, and they explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I understood his treatment plan. I’m so grateful to have found a vet that treats my dog like family and doesn’t rush us in and out. Tidewater Animal Clinic is truly trustworthy, attentive, and caring. Highly recommend! 🐾❤️

This is an initial review - i have only been going here for a few weeks. I am very impressed. I drive a half hour to get to them when vets start at less than ten minutes away. SCHEDULING: Easy. None of that "We don't have any openings for a week" crap when you are dealing with a problem, they understand most of us consider our critters as part of the family and are very concerned when something isn't right. FACILITIES: What i consider to be almost oversized allowing them to freely schedule additional appointments provided they have the staff. Both exterior and interior are clean and well kept along with spacious and excellent access. If your pet (in my case my dog) is overly anxious or any other issue, they have exam rooms that are accessed directly from the exterior of the building. No dragging through a waiting room with all kinds of distractions, provided you first advise them of the situation. Staff: These are some of the friendliest people on this Earth! I strongly believe that is one absolute requirement to work there, friendly, kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. In our brief experience they seem to also have a wide range of different individual-specific talents. In my case dealing with my defensive dog the doctor sibstituted the very nice assistant for another who seemed to have more training skills. Also go to the website. You will really see that they do not scrimp on staff to cut expenses, they have excellent support. Doctors: So far excellent. Now, the following bit must be understood as just an old guy's curious observation that might not have any validity whatsoever- Back in Fredericksburg, from where we recently moved i had warned the Doctor of my dog's anxiety as i had here. In FXBG the doctor entered the exam room in civilian clothes and spent extra time in her approach to Daisy, even getting down to her level. I was amazed that Daisy took the treat offered from her hand (no, she didn't take her hand off also...). She soon was trotting around the exam room, tail wagging and enjoying taking treats. Though a little nervous she allowed us to lift her onto the exam table and tolerated the exam without animosity towards the doctor (but not thrilled to be up on the table). With this sort of contact normally Daisy refuses to accept nor touch anything offered - i was very amazed! Here our doctor came in dressed in an all black set of basically scrubs. Yes, i sure can understand that. She probably got tired of good clothing getting peed on all the time among other things long ago. She was cautious and gentle in her approach and Daisy was at a lower state of anxiety than if not for this doctor's care (there was one vet in the past that had to muzzle her simply because they didn't spare the time). I simply think with an anxiety case the presentation matters a lot on how fast a bond can take place, which i think becomes a permanent aspect of the encounter with the dog. Even given the outfit, which i believed could have contributed to a degree of anxiety that was higher than need be (Daisy was starting to take to the tech that was there just prior in blue clothing if i recall) i think if the approach was given more time and more on Daisy's level it might have been established as good as was with our previous doctor, as that seemed the only difference. In all other aspects i am very pleased with her. Like the staff she is kind, friendly, compassionate, an expert; explains what they want to do and why, no appearances of trying to upsell. This comes into play highly because after only calling and getting Daisy into their records system i discovered a growth on our cat's belly. They got her in quickly, examined and OPERATED THAT WEEK, which our doctor performed - she also is a surgeon. Unfortunately the growth is cancer. I am confident we are getting the best care possible. In the list of possible procedures she limited to just the necessary, though there were many that could have been added and i wouldn't know the difference other than expense. I absolutely recommend Tidewater without reservation.

Tidewater Animal Clinic always treats my little ones with lots of love and respect. Dr. Kate and her staff are the best! Dr. Kate always has time to hear what you have to say. She also helped me with Ma Kitty. Ma won't let you touch her, but she lives inside and her beginning was so rough. Before she started staying inside, she had a terrible ear infection. One morning I trapped her and Dr. Kate told me to bring her in, and some how she treated her. The best in Suffolk!
