They have taken wonderful care of the dogs, each and every time we have boarded there! Great spaces for the pups to run and play.

To clear up some of the information being posted here: Dogs were never going to be let loose if the fire reached the kennel. That was never an idea. Workers were monitoring the kennel 24/7, and in the event evacuation was needed, the dogs would have been transported out in an organized manner with proper tagging. The kennel was in contact with the captain of the nearby fire station, who informed them that evacuation was not necessary and assured them the kennel would be protected to the fullest extent. Additionally, all individually owned dogs were picked up the day prior. The remaining dogs, which belonged to rescue foundations that board their dogs at the kennel, were entrusted to the workers and owner, who have over 40 years of experience and have successfully managed through six previous fires. The real problem began with a post claiming that the kennel needed immediate help. This led to countless people flocking to the kennel to assist. While we are grateful for their willingness to help, it created several problems: 1. It caused a fire hazard. With so many people arriving, evacuation from the premises would have been difficult if the fire had reached the kennel (which is why the police arrived). 2. Lack of coordination. Many of the volunteers who showed up had no understanding of the evacuation plan. Some wanted to rush in and remove dogs using their personal vehicles. 3. Untracked evacuations. This resulted in dogs being taken without a proper system in place to track them or ensure they could be returned. As a result, the rescue foundations, workers, and owners are now trying to locate their dogs. As of now, only five dogs have been returned, and there is no clear information on the whereabouts of the others or when they might be brought back. Additionally, many dogs were on medicine when they were taken. (The medicine was not taken) To clarify, dogs were not being forced to stay. Rescue foundations that wanted to remove their dogs were allowed to do so. In fact, some were already in the process of evacuating their dogs when the social media post went viral. This influx of volunteers then disrupted the entire operation, resulting in the evacuation of all dogs from the kennel, including those belonging to other organizations. Ultimately, the group believed to have caused the massive influx of volunteers has since been “fired.”

Negative STARS! I just took in a dog who was LEFT behind DURING the LA fires, this dog is in bad shape! Like the below person mentioned, this pup also had diarrhea— what are you feeding these poor animals? His ears were dirty, not from like a week or two weeks but DIRTY! How could you allow this? So disheartening! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE KENNELS!

Shame on Rancho Pet Kennels for leaving all the 80+ dogs to die in Calabasas during the Los Angeles fire. Do NOT support this businesses board you dog here, it needs to be shut down for lack of evacuation plan and clearly houses way too many dogs

I just had such a great experience here! I love transporting/fostering shelter dogs. Yesterday we pulled a dog after hours at the shelter for a rescue and she slept over until this facility opened this morning (for one night). Normally I’m not a fan of a dog going from shelter to boarding but after coming here- my mind was changed. This place is on a beautiful property, all the dogs here are so mentally and physically enriched that there was almost no barking when I pulled up, even with so many dogs in sight. They were HAPPY! The owner was just wonderful. She was expecting Raven and was so warm and lovely. The staff that came out to collect Raven was just as lovely! He seemed to be there out of genuine love for the dogs. I slowly drove out, and looked closer at everything and I just love it here. I love the play area and workout area for the pups. I love traveling w my own dogs but am thinking maybe they’d rather be here next time I go out of town haha I highly recommend.
