(from Google)The atmosphere is cool, definitely sets the vibe for the restaurant. All of the staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. There were 3 of us and we did kind of a family style meal. We had 2 orders of wings, both original and seasonal, the edamame, the chicken and rice bowl, the coco curry ramen and steamed pork dumplings, sharing everything. There was enough food for the three of us, but there are still things on the menu that we’re going to have to go back and try.
Good Fortune was an interesting place we wanted to try after seeing it on “The Great Food Truck Race”. They opened at 4PM which we waited in line for them to open, got a table immediately and they filled up quickly. The staff were very nice and attentive. Atmosphere was great, but once the dinning room fills up and the music playing it’s gets a little difficult to have conversation. Onto the food. The biggest disappointment was the one thing we wanted to try “Slap Noodles” they do not have on the menu. We were told it was due to having a small kitchen. The best items were the GFC wings and the crawfish dumplings which were both full of flavor and crispy crunch that is hard to find. My wife got the chicken rice bowl which was mediocre with not much flavor and the chicken was dry. I got the Classic Mane noodles, my daughter got the Big City noodles and my son got the Spicy Pork noodles. The homemade noodles were probably the best part where the rest was pretty bland and tasted similar. All in all I would definitely go back and try some others but mainly for the wings!!
Overall, very limited menu options. The GFC Wings w/ sichuan honey butter were SO GOOD. Would come back just for them. Very crispy outside with a super delicious sauce coating. The dumplings were meh. They were okay, but I’ve had better. The filling was mild in flavor, but the sesame oil that it was sitting in overpowered majority of the other flavors The coco curry noodles flavor profile was 50/50 between coconut and curry. It was mild in flavor which I didn’t mind, but I wish there had been a tad bit more depth. The egg add on was definitely NOT worth the extra $2 . It wasn’t marinated so it lacked any sort of flavor and it was still cold in the center when I got it. The Thai tea cake was okay, it was a dry, crumbly, cake, with delicious icing. The cherry was a nice touch, wished they put more! I got the magikarp drink and even though it was non alcoholic, it had the bitterness as though it had alcohol. Would recommend though!
Good fortune is 100% my favorite restaurant in downtown Memphis. The food is great every single time. From the hostess to the waiters and the rest of the staff, everyone is so friendly and the food always arrives in a flash. My go-to’s are the must have GF Wings, the fried tofu rice bowl and the impossible dumplings. It’s always a great decision to stop by!
We had the most amazing meal at Good Fortune this evening. The food was unbelievably delicious- crawfish dumplings, Big City Noodles and the ice cream. All were absolutely scrumptious. Every meal that was delivered around us looked delicious as well. We are from out of town but will definitely make every effort to visit again as we want to try EVERYTHING! The staff were fast, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu making great recommendations. They do add a 20% service charge so the staff, including chefs are able to split it and thus, no tipping. We didn't mind this at all as you could tell everyone was working hard and their efforts were great food and an enjoyable atmosphere.
