(from Google)Its a great park if you need an open space to be left alone with your esas to work remotely or work on small projects there is also a trash can and grills and a picnic table
I use the park often, mostly to launch my canoe from the boat ramp. Always a good vibe around the place.
It was a nice park still getting cleaned up from the storm. The walking/running path was nice but short. It is less than a half mile loop.
Google recommends fishing spot. NO! To many tubers. They are being bussed in at that.(multiple times) There were other people that came in on their own and floated down stream. They were nice, respectful and didnt act intitled. Its suppose to be a community park. If you just want to walk the trail or see the water nice place. The dogs loved it.
Really enjoyed putting the kayaks in the water here. Boat launch ready to use. Big parking lot. Trails off the parking lot if you need to quickly take care of business 😉 bc there are no bathrooms. Noticed a bunch of people parked just beyond first entrance and they were eating and hanging with family and friends. The boat launch is just beyond this entrance area (which is just before Sierra Nevada btw.) Total French Broad Kayaking round trip from Westfeldt Park to Sandy Bottoms was 3 hours (not just floating but paddling.) Water seemed much cleaner up here than near West Asheville area. Drive between both pick up and drop off approx 8 min (5 miles.) Put in water at 4pm and early September weather, we had perfect partly cloudy and mostly sunny too the end at 7pm. Perfect time and weather to not get burned and enjoy warm but not too hot, heat. 😊💦🛶💖👍
