Prairie Dog Town

It was a quick visit to see the Prairie dogs, although the “town” is pretty small as one is able to walk around it in about 10-15 mins it was a free attraction and those buggers are cool to observe- they can eat carrots and lettuce. If you are looking for a quick place to visit in Lubbock, this a pretty good choice for families.

Great place to see the prairie dogs up close but still a respectful distance away. Plenty of parking, a short wall you can sit on to watch them, and even a shade over part of it to get out of the sun. Showed up about half an hour before sundown, and there were about 20 or at that time. Others said they've been there mid-afternoon and there were a ton more out and about.

We went out of our way to see the prairie dogs, and they were cute little critters. Worth the look-see. Go right at dusk or in the morning. They’re very active at that time. If you’re lucky, you’ll hear them chirping their call and response chittering to each other.

the prairie dogs are sooo cute!! there were plenty to see!! you can apparently feed them vegetables also (: just a note: if you're directing here using google maps, it will take you to the golf course. once you get to the park area, just follow the sign for the prairie dog area and you will find it!!

Such a fun and surprisingly charming stop! Prairie Dog Town is one of those simple, unexpected experiences that ends up being a highlight of the day. Watching the prairie dogs pop in and out of their burrows, stand up on their hind legs, and interact with each other is endlessly entertaining and honestly so cute. It’s a great place to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and just smile for a bit. Perfect for families, kids, visitors to Lubbock, or anyone who loves quirky local attractions. We could have stayed watching them for hours. If you’re in Lubbock, don’t miss this — it’s wholesome, fun, and totally worth the stop!
