WNC K9 Dog Training

Gail is awesome! In one lesson she helped me stop my King Charles Spaniel’s barking by giving him another task. Something I never would have thought about without her help. I highly recommend her!

I came to Gail with a dog who had become aggressive towards other dogs after some negative interactions at dog parks. She was very knowledgeable, a great teacher and super flexible with training. I had 2 sessions with her, I did my homework and now I feel more confident handling my dog! Would highly recommend.

Stella Kate, my 4 y/o terrier mix became an escape artist two months ago - 8 times in 10 days. For all the training we did when she was a pup, she doesn’t know her name when on the run. She loves running. I decided to find a new trainer to reinforce some old skills, and bring in new ones. I found Gail, owner of WNC-K9 who came out and spent 2 hours with us. She left me in overwhelm but with new techniques plus explanations for the theory. I only remember learning what to do with Stella from the first trainer - not the why’s and these are important to me. Stella and I play training games 3-5 times a day - thank God she’s food motivated and smart. On day 5, I was taking garbage out. It was time for our walk. I hadn’t put her harness and leash on, but she knew the habit. When I opened the door, I didn’t know Stella was right at the door beside me. She scooted past me, and I watched her ‘lil butt head towards the woods about 10 feet from the house. It was 7am Sunday morning. I’m thinking – “Damn, I’m not up for a chase/hunt this morning.” So, I called, “Stella come” which is something I’ve done often with no effect in this type of situation. To my shock, she stopped running, turned to look at me, then turned to look longingly at the woods. I repeated the command, and she slowly walked back to me. Oh—my—I couldn’t believe it. I had her treats on me, so I rewarded her immediately. I am SO grateful to have found Gail and WNC-K9. Such incredible results. I feel better armed in understanding what Stella needs from me so that she can be her best companion. There’s more to do and I’m looking forward to it. Give Gail a try - she won't disappoint.

I signed up my dog for Dog Sports with WNC K9, and could not have been more pleased with the quality and value of the experience. Founder Gail ran the six week course, teaching our dogs (only 3-5 dogs per session!) the fundamentals for a variety of dog sports, and every dog made great progress. Having been through a few different dog training courses, Gail's deep knowledge, philosophy, and training approach stood out, and proved incredibly effective at motivating the dogs - and the humans! She was full of ideas for games and training drills, took time for individual questions (like troubleshooting a dog's behavioral problem after class), and shared helpful nuggets of dog psychology. My family came away excited to continue training using her approach of bite size training sessions (which meant we stuck to it!). I intend to sign up for more classes, and would recommend to anyone looking for a trainer - from basic obedience to sports.

We got a new puppy and our current dog was not happy at all about it. We didnt know what to do so we called Gail Hubbard at WNC K9 for a private coaching lesson at our house. She provided insight on doggie dynamics and taught us training exercises and games to play with them that modify their behavior towards each other and to be more comfortable and confident with the new situation. The name of the game is taking things slow, not rushing the process and being consistent. We started to see a change in behavior after 6 weeks and now our family dog and new puppy are the BEST of friends! We are so happy! I cant thank Gail enough for all her help and knowledge. We sent both dogs to puppy classes and K9 Manners and its made a huge difference in our lives with our dogs. Highly recommend WNC K9 Training!
