Woodland Basin Nature Area

I've been here several times over the last decade, and it's never been in more desperate need of a cleanup. A lot of the people that walk, and fish here just throw whatever trash they have straight on the ground, leaving it looking more like a trash dump than a nature area now. We only stayed for a few minutes before seeing used needles on the ground, and deciding to go to the trail down the street.

Great river for kayaking and fishing, very quiet and peaceful place, to get in/out of water can be challenging with kayaks, unfortunately able to see trash around, there is room for improvement. Free little parking spot from Miller road

I give this 4 stars overall simply for the lovely paddle. Lots of birds, heard an owl, the creek is shaded nearly the whole way North. Got out and found fossils, Buffalo teeth, turtle shell, cool rocks. Great place to kayak, but tons of trash. If you think of all of the bags and clothes in the trees swaying in the breeze, one of our group said they were like prayer flags. Could really benefit from a cleanup. Put in was easy, could benefit from having more trash cans.

Not a great put-in. Would hope the city would consider developing a canoe/kayak put-in. Once on the water, it's a nice flatwater paddle. Paddled up to Firewheel Pkwy and back. Sad to see the amount of trash like others have commented.

This can be a nice place but there's so much trash in the area. We picked up a lot of trash but it's the people that make it good. Otherwise, it's a good place to go fishing. You can be under the bridge or under the cover of the trees. There's about 15 parking spots and there are no restrooms. Easily accessible on the east bound lane of Miller Rd. There is a dedicated left turn lane on the west bound lane of Miller. There is also a sign that reads "Woodlands Basin Nature Preserve".
