(from Google)We took a little jaunt out to East Scottsdale to check out Javelina Trail—and depending on where you’re coming from, it can feel like a bit of a trek. The drive winds through a beautiful community before reaching a gated neighborhood. Trailhead parking is conveniently located to the left of the community gate. From there, you walk across the street and up a paved sidewalk, which eventually transitions into Dixie Mine Trail. Javelina Trail itself is an easy, approachable walk—perfect for anyone easing into hiking or looking for a relaxed outing. For a more immersive experience, I highly recommend continuing on to Dixie Mine Trail, where you’ll get a deeper look at Arizona’s stunning natural desert beauty.
Great paved trail for strollers. There are no good signs to find the trail entrance. You can park at the Recreation Center with the playground, pool, and tennis courts. Do NOT try to enter the gated community. Parking may be limited during weekends or busy holidays. After parking, walk down Queens Wreath Lane and turn left on 105th Street to find the start of the 3 mile paved trail. Highly recommend to download the AllTrails app to stay on track. There are several areas the trail splits but it actually leads to biking trails or neighborhoods. Fairly simple hike with beautiful scenery. It'll take 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
Nice easy paved trail. Good for families with strollers.
Update: I hiked Javelina Trail today (1 year ago today I also hiked it) Today was more eventful with the wildlife we encountered. Be careful when hiking and be vigilant snakes are sharing the path with you! lol This was one of my favorite trail hikes. Beautiful cactus and flowers in bloom, beautiful spring weather and no snake sightings.
The Google directions on getting here can be a little confusing but it's well worth the hassle. I've seen many different types of animals here rabbits, quails and even a rattlesnake watch where you step lol 😆 anyways just such a wonderful place to hike with lots of intermediate and beginner trails definitely recommend if you want to try somewhere new to hike.
