PetSmart Grooming

I like the groomers here a lot, so much that I drive from St. Paul and pass many closer options. It just sucks you cant book an appt for nail trims so im often stuck waiting around.

Horrible experience there today. I called at 8:30 a.m. to make an appointment for a cat nail trim sometime the same day. The groomer I spoke to signed me up for 4 p.m. An hour later, I get a call from the cat groomer, saying she leaves at 3:30 and can I come earlier at 2. I couldn’t, but I offered 3 p.m. and she agrees. So OK, fast forward to 3, I have left work early and tortured my cat with a car ride to get to his appointment. But when I get there, I’m informed I have no appointment booked and the cat groomer had already left for the day. I explain everything I have written here, and they profess that no one was there to speak to me at 8:30 because they don’t come in until 9:30, and the cat groomer didn’t mention anything so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Apparently I spoke to a ghost. Now it’s Friday afternoon, which means I am basically screwed at this point to get his nails trimmed because every other petsmart will be booked and they don’t take cats on the weekend because there are too many dog appointments. I’m super upset, and the store’s solution is to have the manager cut my cat’s nails because she has her own cats. There’s a reason I pay to have certified professionals do this (my cat has extra toes and fused double dewclaws) so why on earth this was thought as a reasonable alternative, I don’t know. In the end, I end up going to my vet last-minute to pay more than double the petsmart price because I had no other option. And I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but one of the groomers there for my phantom appointment sounded a lot like the first guy I talked to on the phone, but he professed to have no memory of that interaction. And the store manager said she actually sent that cat groomer home because she wasn’t doing anything and was being unproductive, which also doesn’t make sense since I literally spoke to her and had confirmed my appointment. I have the phone records to prove it! Maybe something fluky really did happen, but I’m honestly pretty suspicious. I’m so put off by it all that I’m probably just going to switch over to PetCo or something so I don’t have to worry about my appointments actually coming to fruition.

They did a great job, but took over 6 hours to groom a small dog. They said it would take 4-5 hours, but didn’t call to let me know there was a delay. When I called at the 6 hour mark they used the same line everyone does these days, ‘people left sick.’ I’m tired of people blaming everything on staffing issues. Take responsibility and call if you are running behind. It ended up costing me for time off work and it wasn’t even my dog.

I absolutely adore the staff at the grooming salon!! My dog usually has Jenna H as her groomer and she is fantastic! My dog is a rescue and I got her when she was 2 already and she was a reservation dog so she never really had a home and therefore was not used to going to the groomer. My dog started off definitely a bit difficult and anxious at the groomers, but Jenna has done an absolutely fabulous job with getting my dog more comfortable with the services! She’s been incredibly patient with my pup and now she does so much better at the groomers than when we first started! You can tell Jenna takes her time and genuinely cares about her clients - she is fantastic! She even initially helped us out by giving recommendations for scheduling that would best suit my pup and her anxiety at the salon. I would truly recommend her to everyone! We have also worked with a few other groomers at this location and they have all been fantastic as well. I truly don’t think you can go wrong with this location, I would highly recommend it!

This store is always nice, calm and relaxing. The employees are very nice and seem to know what they're doing and can direct you in the right direction. I always leave this place feeling like I've had a good experience. The prices are high, but no higher than any other place. And Pongo loves to go there and chill.
