(from Google)Bear Creek Trail was a fun discovery on a recent trip to Winter Springs. There is a small parking area at the trailhead. From the parking area the trail radiates in both directions through a small hammock area with ancient cypress, oaks, and cabbage palms. The natural area serves as a floodplain buffer between two neighborhoods in the Tuscawilla community. The trail is maintained by the City of Winter Springs. Bear Creek Nature Trail is narrow and sandy. It runs parallel to Bear Creek. There are changes in elevation which makes it more interesting and you cross two small bridges. When you are high above the creek you have to be cognizant of your footing so that you don't accidentally step off the trail and fall. There are also picnic tables available. The length of the trail is .9 of a mile. Bear Creek Nature Trail was an easy and fun hike and I enjoyed the view of the creek. It also had the added bonus of being mostly shaded and bug free!
A tiny, but incredibly pleasant trail right off a suburban road not far from downtown. You can complete the entire trail in about 20 minutes one-way, but you feel like you're off in a peaceful jungle the entire time. There is a resident alligator, I call him Jeremy. He likes to sunbathe on the sandy peninsula after the double-layered bridge, after the curve on the left side. I poked my head in the other day and he saw me, and we both had a startle. When I came back later, he was waiting for all the people to leave so he could come back up. Someone should make him a sign. I'm sharing photos of his sunbathing spot so everyone knows where to look out for.
Really nice area to drive through as well as a nice trail with lots of water to see. The trail isn't large but it's a nice little spot to walk around and see some nature. Tannin rich spring water that's cold and has a nice flow to it. I didn't see any gators despite there being a sign warning for some. Dog friendly and shaded. I really enjoyed my time here even if it was short. If it was closer I would be here more often for sure. Parking area is small there was only 1 other car here with us.
Beautiful, hiking trail. There were a few spots that we could possibly climb to get across the creek, but with the little one, it just isn’t doable, so I’m definitely going back great spot to have a lunch picnic.
Nice short hike in a neighborhood. The water is still high after the hurricanes and roots are exposed as well along the trail. Flooding has blocked access to the crossover using the rope. Usually it is a calm and hike to sit by the water, just watch your footing. As always near water in Florida, beware of alligators.
