I waited over a year to write this : Our dog was a patient at Hoboken Vets for 5 years. We developed a strong relationship with our vet and truly loved them. Unfortunately our dog had a condition he required surgery for and that’s when things went south. About a month or so post-surgery, our dog was bleeding from the incision site. We brought him in, they gave antibiotics and a topical and that was it. The surgeon did not acknowledge WHY this may have happened. When I reached out to Hoboken Vets management team after not seeing an improvement / complications with recovery, they REFUSED to meet with me to discuss a plan of action moving forward to care for our dog. When we informed them we were leaving the practice after 5 years, they did not even bat an eye. Our dog recently had another bloody episode near the incision site (1 full year post surgery). We paid and took time to see a specialist (2x), and they indicated something may not have been fully removed during the initial surgery. So now - after the surgery, after thousands of dollars spent, recovery time, specialist costs….our dog’s condition has still not improved, and even worse, we may have to do a second surgery to FIX WHAT THEY DIDNT DO THE FIRST TIME. I believe there was malpractice, their management team is unprofessional, and because they are corporately owned and run, all this office cares about is money. They DO NOT care for the well being of your dog nor do they value relationships with pet parents. It’s extremely disappointing.

This place is clean, easy to get to, professional, friendly! We arrived 10 minutes early to fill out paper work and then 5 minutes later the Vet grabbed us and our puppy. Super experienced, friendly with our puppy and answered all our questions! Also the front desk girl was perfect! Was ready for us when we showed up and took care of us immediately. 10 out of 10 experience with this place. THANK YOU!

My elderly cat with chronic kidney disease had been treated here for over a year and was doing well on his long-term medication. About three weeks ago, I called after seeing that his prescription refill was denied. I was then told that the vet we’d been seeing was no longer with the practice and that we would need an appointment with the new doctor. I understood that policy and explained that we had just moved an hour away and simply needed a small refill to keep him stable & comfortable while we waited for an appointment with a new vet. The staff member on the phone was condescending and ended the call with, “Good luck finding that medication for your cat.” No short refill was provided, so he had to go a few days without his medication. We eventually were seen elsewhere, but he caught a virus soon after that appointment and passed away within three weeks of me calling this office for the medication refill. I’m not blaming this office for his death, but I do expect a veterinary clinic I’ve spent thousands of dollars with to show basic compassion and provide reasonable continuity of care for a chronically ill senior pet. The lack of compassion and professionalism during such a vulnerable moment was unacceptable, and I would urge you to go literally anywhere else for your pet’s care. My response to management: #1 I was never told that our last refill would be our last refill and I was never even told that our vet left. The fact that you’re making excuses here an even lying about what was communicated to me is incredibly unprofessional. #2 the review I left had nothing to do with your policy. I understand and respect the policy in place, though I do think that policies should bend based on the situation and our situation was that our cat was old, sick and just needed his meds. The last thing he needed was the stress of going to the vet. My review was solely to inform both management and the public that the experience I had with the front desk staff member was incredibly rude, indifferent and unhelpful and this type of service will ultimately lead to the demise of this business. In the words of your front desk, “good luck”.

Dr. Devon and his technician were great! He were recommended by friends that live in town. They not only conducted a wellness exam but were able to answer any questions I had as a new pet owner. Look forward to coming back in a few weeks and feel very confident in their ability and knowledge.

I brought my cat in today and I’m so happy with our visit. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Dr. Sydney Friedman is an angel. My cat was so calm inside the examination room. Let everyone pet her, was sitting calmly the entire time and didn’t even cry during her shot. That is absolutely not like her at all, she’s a little drama queen. I cannot recommend them enough! What are usually very stressful trips to the vet turned out to be the most positive and pleasant one we ever had!
