Harbor Hound

Maria, Linda and team are wonderful. I started taking my mature dog there who needed special care in his bath due to his age. Now we bring two long haired Tibetan terrier’s for regular baths. They do a wonderful job keeping in mind our preferences and care for the dogs along the way. They do not us cage blowers which is also very important.

My Bernese Mountain Dog, Harpur, has been groomed by Liza nearly her entire life (4 years). I have to say, Liza and the rest of the staff at Harbor Hound have been terrific! They always do an immaculate "fur cut" on her and leave her smelling wonderful! Liza truly has excellent grooming skills and she's a total sweetheart. They've been nothing but accommodating to me and really have been a pleasure to go to!

I have used Harbor Hounds for years but today was definitely the last time. My 6 lb 16 year old maltese was brought in at 9:15 am. When i did not get the “ shes ready” call, i called them at 1:35. No one answered so i left message. No call back so i called them again and was told she wasnt ready yet! They said come in 15 minutes. I arrived and the place was empty. Groomer Liza had left and my dog had sissied in her cage having been left too long. Did I mention she is 16 and 5 hours is just too long for her without a bathroom break especially in a place where shes stressed. The owner lightly rinsed her handed her to me now unclean and grabbed my credit card fast as she could. Go elsewhere.

I recently brought my cocker spaniel for grooming. He is very difficult and had post- COVID entire body overgrown. They did an excellent job - we will be back and I would highly recommend this place!

Harbor Hounds is a small boutique shop in the heart of Cold Spring Harbor. They have a nice selection of apparel, accessories and treats. Linda and Maria are friendly, knowledgeable and most important caring and patient. I bring my miniature long haired dachshund to Harbor Hounds to be groomed. I am always confident Oscar will have a wonderful experience, and I never worry about him being stressed, or miss handled. They do a wonderful job taking care of all his tangles, matts, and nails. He always looks, and smells like a show dog when they are done grooming him. I highly recommend Harbor Hounds.
