Top Paw K9 Academy

Jen and John at Top Paw K9 Academy are absolutely incredible!! I brought in my 9 month old puppy Haku for their board and train program and it was life changing for me and our puppy! Not only are they amazing, kind, down to earth people who love dogs, they genuinely love what they do and it is evident! Before Haku went through their program he wasn’t able to regulate his emotions and everything was overly excited to him. Every dog we would see he would want to say hi and didn’t know how to regulate his excited emotions so it would turn into barking, lunging, pulling and chaos every time we would see other dogs. Jen and John spent time understanding why he was reacting that way and helped him learn how to regulate those big emotions! Not only did they teach him but taught us exactly what he was learning and how to do each thing he has learned! They reached out with detailed instructions and then we met with him once a week while he was there to put those instructions together in person! With their help we can now walk past dogs, squirrels, and any other exciting things with little to no reaction and if he needs extra guidance we know exactly what to do! We are so happy that we found Top Paw and will continue to go back!

We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Top Paw K9 Academy! Our German Shepherd mix was incredibly reactive and John and Jen stepped in with a structured guidance that went far and above. We sent our dog to Jennifer at Top Paw for a behavior correction. She restored her food motivation for training. She now looks forward to our training sessions. Our dog would constantly pull on the leash, but now she walks in a perfect heel. She was very reactive to other dogs and people, but now she’s calm around them. She used to body slam people that came over to our house, but now she stays in place until we release her. The fact that Jennifer was able to correct these behaviors force-free meant everything to us. Thanks to Jennifer and her team, we get to have the life we wanted with our baby girl!

I truly can’t be more grateful for Jen and team that trained my boy. I tried two trainers before i took my black lab puppy Mallard to them. Jen and her team actually were the only ones able to understand him. Finding a trainer for your dog is honestly so hard, you want to find the best person to send your fur baby to. She truly is the best in so many ways. She listened to EVERYTHING I asked for and made it happen in the week and a half he was there. Not only that but she made sure to send me so many pictures and videos updating me with every new technique. When I came to pick him up I saw he was truly loved and taken care of. Overall, he was a completely changed boy who listened off leash, knew many commands, and had so much more confidence. I would highly recommend her over and over again. Jen and her team trained my very assertive and alpha Doberman as a puppy and it was LIFE CHANGING for mine and his relationship. Her mission is to create a language you and your dog speak. She does an amazing job at making it a completely positive and meaningful experience for both dog and owner. ITS THE OWNER THAT NEEDS THE TRAINING. We want to be the leader for our pet and she teaches us how to lead so our beloved dogs will respect, trust and respond to our requests. This is the second time I’m bringing my Doberman to Jen. First was basic training as a 3 month old boy and now as a 4 year old amazing boy who she turned into a service animal. He was very reactive to other dogs and men in his space and she had taught him to relax and fully focus on ME as his owner and wait for MY command or trigger of anxiety and then he will jump into action fulfilling his duty to interrupt my anxiety and panic attacks. First day after getting him back, I unexpectedly had an anxiety attack and he jumped into action without me knowing he would as he JUST learned these tasks. I am floored at the growth and forever grateful for Jen and her team, John especially loved on Briggs and worked him and built a special bond. I will never not have a dog that isn’t trained by her and her team. I live in San Diego and made the drive to her because I know the level of excellence she delivers. She is the GOAT of dog training.
