(from Google)North Fork Tavern hits that rare balance—casual, but dialed in. The space sets the tone right away. High ceilings, warm lighting, clean lines… it feels open without losing that comfortable, sit-and-stay energy. Whether you’re at the bar, a table, or outside on the patio, it all flows. Food came out solid across the board. The nachos were loaded and built right, not just thrown together. Mac & cheese had that baked finish, and everything actually had flavor—not overdone, just done well. Drinks were on point too. Clean martini, balanced, and you can tell the bar program isn’t an afterthought. Service was easygoing and sharp. No hovering, no lag. Bonus points for a clean, well-kept space all the way through—details matter, and they’ve got it handled. This is an easy repeat spot whether you’re grabbing a drink or settling in for a full meal.
Wow, I wanted to like this place! Drove across town because they had highly rated Bloody Mary. It was OK, nothing special. Traxler has more impressive Bloody Mary. Forgot to take a picture because I was so excited to dive in, but it had two olives and a stick of bruised and dirty celery (didn't notice till 2/3 done with it) and had the rim lined with Tajin instead of salt... Shoulda done salt cuz that's the only place salt would been on my meal! Food came quickly... A little too quickly it seemed. Eggs order over medium. Apparently no one knows how to make a proper over medium egg! It's one flip, you gotta flip it! It's jammy yolk not runny yolk. Needless to say the egs were over easy not medium. I sub'd a biscuit (+$2) for toast and side of gravy (+$6!) because I wanted to sample biscuits and gravy and the was cheaper than ordering half order of B&G and adding eggs and potatoes. Biscuits definitely not homemade, gravy broken and has onions in it! When did sausage gravy start having onions!? Is this a new trend? It needs to stop. Massive amount of potatoes! Not a grain of salt anywhere! So everything was just bland (of course I added salt, and I almost never do that!). And lastly the bacon. It looked perfect, but it was STONE COLD. Clearly things are made in bulk and sit waiting to be ordered. Honestly the only thing that should be mass produced for this menu is the biscuits. It's sad when there's more to criticize than praise. The staff were beautiful and friendly, the place is clean and fresh and inviting, but damn the food is meh at best. Maybe they just suck at breakfast... 🤷 I tip 20% so over $40 for breakfast, no ma'am, not worth it.
We had reservations and I'm glad we did because they were turning away people. The tavern has a great vibe and service was great. We had all our questions answeredand our drinks were delicious. It was hard to decide watching other orders being delivered, the presentation of each plate made the decision difficult. We were a little disappointed in our food. My fish and chips had a lot of grease in it. It was very crunchy which was great in contrast to the flaky fish, but the oil overpowered the meal. The steak sandwich was tender, but the promised horseradish was very deleted and didn't have much taste. I would still recommend going, but I wouldn't order anything fried.
We have come here for at least six years and this has been the worst visit by far.. the wait staff was great, but the food was not. We came here for my husband’s birthday dinner and he was served burnt wings. I really honestly cannot believe these wings were even brought to the table. My son (age 4) was served a burger that was undercooked and pink in the middle. The frickles that we ordered and have ordered for years, were very obviously just frozen and refried. We came here in June last year and the food was great as always. Unfortunately after this visit? We won’t be back. If I want freezer food, I’ll just stay home.
From a Eugene local, this place is truly amazing! I went for their New Year's Brunch, and everything was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is classy but interesting, as well. The servers were nice, and we had no problem making a reservation just before we headed over and getting seated. The food is some of the best I've had in the area, and the portions are more than reasonable, as well, for the price. I would definitely recommend this place for brunch! And I'm planning to visit again to try their dinner menu! UPDATE: Went back for my anniversary, and dinner was also a great experience! Service, drinks, and food were all rapid and smooth. I found some of the dinner items lacking compared to the rest of the dishes, but overall, still a great eat. Specifically, the tacos and fries were pretty standard, so they paled compared to the rest of the food which was so flavorful. Portions were reasonable for the price!
