Cottonwood Little Creek Trail Review Such a beautiful fall hike! The trail follows a scenic creek with big boulders, golden aspens, and peaceful mountain views. We even spotted three deer along the way! There’s a charming old water wheel near the trail that adds to the charm. The hike is about 4 miles out and back — moderate and very rewarding. Parking is a bit limited, so it’s best to come early. Absolutely worth it for the fall colors and tranquil atmosphere. 🍂🦌💧

Lovely trail just off the road up Little Cottonwood Canyon. Trail follows Little Cottonwood Creek. Be sure to take the detour as it leads to a beautiful shaded grove right beside the creek. Trail is a mix of dust, rocks and boulders. Mostly shaded with parts in full or partial sun. Lots of beautiful trees .. aspens, oaks, maples, poplar and pines. About halfway up the trail is a majestic pine that has to be hundreds of years old. Trail is in an avalanche area so there is a small part covered in boulders. Slow and steady climb.

As you hike, you’re surrounded by nature at its best: wildflowers, forested areas, and stunning views of the Wasatch Front. The trail also offers a fascinating historical element, as it passes near the Temple Quarry, where granite was once mined for the Salt Lake Temple. The road up to the trailhead, whether you’re coming from Alta, Snowbird, or the base of the canyon, offers some of the most picturesque views in the area. This trail is amazing in the afternoon/evening. Nothing hard at all. Some spots where you can cross the water. It’s very green rn and you can enjoy camping as well? I’ll be back for sure.

One of my favorite trails! I would rate this as easy. Not a trail I would take a stroller on but easy to carry a child in a carrier. There is one part that I would say is steep but my 2 and 4 year old at the time could handle it. It ends at a really pretty old power plant. It's shaded and takes maybe about an hour and a half to two hours to complete.
