Union Bear Brewing Company - Denton

Our first time visiting, and I can confidently say that we will be back! This was an amazing experience. Our server, Sydney, was super sweet, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was delicious too! We were so excited about dessert that I forgot to take a picture of it before we dug in lol. So please enjoy the photo of my husband two-spooning the last of the lemon blueberry crumb cake.

I stopped into Union Bear Brewing Co. after hearing some great things and wanted to see what they had to offer. I visited on a Tuesday around 5:00 p.m., so it wasn’t very busy. I was seated quickly, and the atmosphere was calm, not too noisy — which made for a nice, relaxed dining experience. Our server was polite, attentive, and helpful with menu recommendations. I ordered the Vanilla Sky cocktail, the UB Old Fashion, and the fish and chips. The Vanilla Sky was smooth and flavorful, and you really can’t go wrong with a well-made Old Fashion. Unfortunately, the fish and chips didn’t quite deliver. With deep-fried cod, temperature control is critical. The oil needs to be hot enough to create an immediate crisp exterior while properly cooking the inside. In this case, the outside had some crunch on the ends, but the center was very mushy — likely from excess moisture and oil temperature not being dialed in. It just didn’t have the light, flaky texture you expect from a properly executed fry. The Brussels sprouts coleslaw was interesting in concept, but it tasted exactly like shredded Brussels sprouts without the balance and brightness you typically get from traditional coleslaw. The fries were honestly the best part of the plate — solid, but nothing particularly standout. Overall, the service and atmosphere made for a pleasant visit. While I wasn’t impressed with the execution of the fish and chips, I’m glad I tried it and would return to explore other menu options. There’s enough potential here to give it another shot.

I used to go to the Union Bear in Plano when I lived in Frisco, and food/drinks were great but the staff in Denton is OUTSTANDING! We are always very well taken care of by Irving, Kate, Maddie, Matthew, Izaiah, Josh, Kelsey and anyone who may be on shift. I personally don't drink beer but there's a great tequila selection and a smaller but very good Scotch selection and Japanese whisky. Their fries are THE BEST! Although I switched to a keto diet and they've been able to accomodate to provide good options (any salad sans croutons with grilled shrimp and olive oil-lemon is SO GOOD!!). Fried mushrooms used to be my favorite appetizer before keto, highly recommended!! One of our favorite places to go for weekday date nights in Denton because of how great the bar crew is🫶🏽 (we'll even go in weekends just to see Maddie that's always so sweet) thank you guys for always being awesome!!!

Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife tonight. We’re not crazy enough to go out on actual Valentine’s Day. Union Bear brewing in Denton is a great spot and we highly recommend it! I had fish and chips, and wifey had pizza. But the honorable mention comes to the dessert which was a brownie with ice cream and the king of the evening was the union bear stout. This was a bourbon barrel stout, aged in Buffalo Trace barrels, and came in at a whopping 10.9% alcohol. It almost tastes like a red wine. So good! The server, Kayla, was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. 

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit Spot in Denton! If you ever find yourself in Denton and need a place to unwind with friends, coworkers, or family, Union Bar is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, lively, and full of good vibes. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a chill spot to hang out, this place delivers. The food? Delicious. The drinks? On point. But what really made our night was the incredible service especially from Donovan. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, and his energy and attention to detail truly elevated our experience. If you stop by, do yourself a favor and ask for him! Union Bar has officially earned a spot on my go-to list. Can’t wait to come back!
