District Tavern

Came here for late night food and drinks with a group of friends. The food was awesome, the buffalo chicken flatbread was delicious. Service however was crazy slow, and the server barely followed up, we kept having to beg for water. The place was not that busy either and there was a full number of staff behind the bar so I’m not sure why the service was so lack luster. Overall the atmosphere was alright, I’d go back if I was in the area. Nothing to write home about.

I originally started this review with a short list of things I didn't like about this place. I decided that was silly, because when the food came out, I stopped caring about any of that. The grilled salmon was awesome. The tuna tartare was also really good. Then the server ran a block and a half to catch me after I left my debit card there.

This whole is the wall could have been an amazing place. The downfall was the service. The three bartenders looked more interested in the game happening then serving patrons. If they, the bartenders, were assisting those eating/drinking it was met with attitude and annoyance. Many patrons who were seated at tables or surrounding the bar were left with empty glasses or cold food or burnt, such as ours. The food did have potential to be amazing, except it was cold. Honestly, as someone who was raised with manners (ie, please, thank you and you're welcome) this place had none.

My fam and I had a wonderful experience. Drove up to Tampa for my daughter's birthday and stopped here for lunch. Our server/waiter was great, I believe his name was Jonathan. He was excellent, friendly, and patient. We had a small conversation about his heritage because my daughter asked about the runes on his fingers and he happily shared the meaning of his tattoos and how they relate to his background. Imagine our surprise when we realized as we walked to our car that he marked our to go bag with one of the runes we discussed. See sent us home with the symbol of protection and safety, Algiz. This was the coolest and perfect way to end a wonderful birthday. We talked about it all the way home. This is what excellent customer service is all about.

Friendly staff and cozy environment! It's a bar, so was a bit hard to hear normal conversations. The food was hearty and portions were great! I got the backyard BBQ burger!
