(from Google)Absolutely love this trail. It’s well-maintained, scenic, and perfect for a peaceful hike or walk. The views are beautiful, the path is easy to follow, and it’s a great spot to get outdoors without feeling overcrowded.
Great place to park for the trails. Parking lot can fill but there is ample parking along the street. There is a network of trails so can do loops, in out,, etc. length of time on the trail depends on how far you go. Today I did 90min. A few days back it was several hours.
Second time visiting the South Mountain Preserve. The trails aren't too challenging, and the views of the are very nice. The parking lot at the trailhead isn't very big considering the number of hikers the place obviously draws.
Great trailhead with a decent sized parking lot. There are trash cans, but no water here. There are two trailheads at the parking lot, and they both branch off into more as you go up the mountain. This is a great trailhead for doing a loop hike, also great for a full moon hike.
I’m just getting back into hiking and with knee issues, I feel this is the perfect trail to build up for more difficult hikes. The inclines are more gradual, and there are many places where it is level or where you reach small plateaus. A person can choose how intense they want it to be of course as you can go onto different paths depending on how long you wish to stay and enjoy. I did not do the whole loop and look forward to seeing the petroglyphs next time but it was perfect for what I wanted. At 77 degrees, I was not over thirsty, I had coconut water with me which was sufficient. That to say it wasn’t a hard hike. If you have any lower body issues, I think you would find this hike suitable to get your hike in without taxing yourself. The views are beautiful from different vantage points. I found fellow hikers to be polite and out there to enjoy the beauty. The trail is good for mountain bikes generally speaking. The paths are quite rocky though and a bit narrow so bikers will be in for a bumpy ride. With all the rocks on the path you have to be careful not to twist your ankles but people who love to hike will navigate just fine. I truly wish people would respect the natural environment and not break bottles and litter!! We need to be advocates if we see it. There are cans at the trail entrance so places to dispose of trash.
