(from Google)Would not recommend. Abandoned. You can direct your GPS to the nearby parking lot to reduce confusion for directions. It was a long dirt road to the ocean with lots of trash and various animal carcasses + plenty of abandoned boats and cabins. Road is impassable by foot at the very end right now with large puddles but road was mostly dry.
Locked down. Not allowed to enter. Trashy.
Good place for birding. I saw 25 different species in 2 hours of walking around the area. The turnoff is not well marked and it's right off the highway. You may miss it or end up going into the abandoned speedway that's right next to it. There aren't any official trails but the terrain is more or less flat. It can be slippery so make sure to wear good shoes. There is a lot of trash thrown about. If you go, please pick up after yourself.
Beautiful beach. Kids and family friendly. The road is not paved. Therefore, unless you have a 4X4 vehicle, avoid it if it has rained recently.
Beautiful place to visit! Always catch the preserves and parks and historical sites when I travel.
