Copperfield Nature Trail

Nice vegetation changes, probably good for neighbors walking around but isn't exactly a destination hike. It's adjacent to a creek and either side of the trail has houses. Towards the end of the trail there are a couple of houses that have really loud dogs that're annoying and will wake a baby sleeping in a carrier, but other than that, it's alright. Wouldn't go back again but glad to have explored another spot in Austin.

Peaceful environment, forest smell, long trail, bird sounds, a little waterfall and you’ll get to hear planes flying above you oftenly.

Fabulous hiking trail under a heavy tree canopy! Moderate hike, mostly flat terrain with a few challenging spots so be sure to wear sturdy shoes with a good grip. Watch out for poison ivy and oak along the way. A few rabbits and egrets spotted. Peaceful setting though it's so near the interstate highway 35. Go early and you'll find the trail mostly deserted!

Copperfield Nature Trail is a no frills trail beginning in a quiet park and features a few nice sights throughout. The trail is very narrow at parts and doesn’t have many branching paths which makes it feel very linear. It is an out and back trail so once you reach the end you have to turn around unless you don’t mind walking through the neighborhood to return to the park section. Some of the scenic views include a small creek, cute bridge, and some rock walls but for the most part it just feels lacking. If you’re bringing a dog (or garbage) please be aware the only trash cans are in the park at the beginning or in one of the apartment complexes that lines the trail. Also to note is that a portion of the trail requires you to cross a big street with no crosswalks available (not ideal). By the end of the trail we had seen just about everything and while this isn’t a horrible trail, it definitely isn’t one we’d highly recommend and certainly don’t see ourselves going back for.

A 1.8 mile trail to the end (3.6 mile in and out, but you can also end at the neighborhood and walk back to the parking lot easily), pretty easy with some small steep sections and one interesting rocky section. This spot has parking, a picnic spot, a little park, and some trash cans.
