(from Google)The lady that helped us yesterday was very nice and helped us with lots of knowledge of love birds. Very great atmosphere
Absolutely horrendous experience. In August 2025, I purchased an albino parakeet (“Jasper”) from World of Birds for $60, including cage and accessories. Everything appeared clean, and the associate assured me of their commitment to bird health. Within less than a week I discovered a severe poultry mite infestation on the bird's cage cover (the one the shop sent me home with). I have no other birds in my home, but as a former pet groomer of 15 years I knew exactly what these parasites were. Now my children and I had bugs in our home, and I immediately returned Jasper and his cage. The associate was apologetic, but said only the owner, Tasha, could issue refunds. After days of sleepless nights, buying a steam cleaner, and deep-cleaning my house, Tasha finally called- telling me she didn’t see bugs, had “treated” Jasper herself (she is not a vet and it's known that it can take MONTHS to get rid of mites). She insisted that I should pick him back up. When I explained that mites do not vanish overnight and shared the financial and emotional burden this caused my family, and not wanting to take the risk again, she offered me only a $30 store credit. This is beyond unacceptable. As a former animal business professional, I’ve never encountered such unsanitary, unethical practices. Shops like this not only harm animals but put entire communities and the world at risk. I have photo and video evidence and will be reporting World of Birds to animal welfare authorities. Please think twice before trusting this business with your health, your family, or your pets. With conditions like these, they should be called ‘World of Bugs,’ not World of Birds.
My experience with World of Birds was a very good one.The people they were very friendly and very helpful. They made sure that I had everything I needed for my bird! And I bought a beautiful cage from them too!
A nice little niche pet store run by a friendly lady. There were several pet bird species available for sale along with cages, toys, and food. They also offer boarding and adoption serves. If I wasn't moving soon, I might consider purchasing an avian friend from them. It's definitely worthwhile if you're interested in purchasing a pet bird.
Small store who really know what they're doing! They only sell finches, cockatiels, and budgies but will sometimes have larger birds for adoption as rescues. They have a huge selection of healthy parrot food and is the only place near me that carries TOPs, one of the best pellets available in the US. I don't often leave reviews but this is a really lovely small business that you should stop by if you ever find yourself in Lakewood. They know their bird stuff and are happy to answer questions! My bird has been very happy with everything I've purchased there, and I have no complaints about the service or quality of their products.
