(from Google)Entrance isn't marked, so rely on GPS to find it. Wide sandy path. No amenities, but good for dog walking my dog. I've only seen one other person walking her dog.
This preserve is adjacent to the county park. Multiple trails join the two locations. It is easy to wander off and end up in the neighboring park
It's a bit confusing because you have to enter through Stephen Worthem community park walk over a mile to get into the reserve. In that first mile I stepped in at least 3 different dog poop on the pathway covered by random moss or just sand. That's just the 3 I missed of the over 10 I saw in the first mile. I have dogs and would never leave it on the WALKING PATH not along the side ON THE PATH. Smelly brand new poop. I didn't see any real moving water just some stagnant beds. It was very shady so that's a plus but also very very beach sandy. Make sure the wear longer socks. Also saw so much broken glass during the walk its insane how people have no real care for the environment. Upon arrival had to experience a couple screaming at each other about cheating accusations. Take that home how embarrassing they didn't care there were kids at the park or that their friends were witnessing it. Ruined my mood.
A bit tricky to find the entrance, but it does exist and it's quite nice
Great park, it is open! People just don't realize you have to go through the park next door to get to it. Wonderfully maintained trails with diverse plant communities & many sand pine stands. Plentiful gopher tortoise throughtout the entire park. Use the google maps bicycle path plugin to see the trails, they'll all show up. Trails are less well maintained down towards the lake but still worth the trek. Only complaint is that there's still a lot of trash left over from ranching & an incredible amount of glass & ceramic along the perimeter trail with the antenna station. Directions to access: park next to playground at Stephan Wortham Park, follow the trail to where the red blazes start, that's the begining of the red blaze loop, the shorter of the two, then proceed to the blue blaze trail that takes you to the East side perimeter trail & loop back.
