(from Google)A nice little spot to see a beautiful botanical garden. Also get to see old Prairie town on the Oregon trail good place to visit if you have a little time if you’re ever in Topeka, Kansas
Free place to learn a bit of Kansas history and relax while wandering through outdoor gardens featuring many varieties of hostas, peonies, iris and tulips, depending on time.of year. Small Japanese garden. House tours during weekends. Fairy gardens on display.
Very beautiful park to walk around. We went on a weekend so didn't do the tour, but had a fun time exploring the grounds. The botanical gardens are large, with gorgeous walking paths and fish ponds. The historic buildings are cool as well and there's plaques to explain the background of each one. The staff at the General Store and the Drug Store were really friendly and helpful. We had an awesome time.
We actually visited the Old Prairie Town, which was delightful. We ate old-fashioned ice cream (brown bread ice cream is delicious) while we listened to a live old-time band in the dining room at the pharmacy. It was Sunday, so many attractions were closed, but the lady in the General Store was informative and gave a little history lesson. It was informative, and we had a nice time for the 90+/- minutes we were there.
Lovely walk in springtime! The bulbs and trees are blooming, everything is so beautiful! I highly recommend having a walk through the garden and sitting still for a few minutes and letting the world go away. We didn't take the tour, just walked around, it was good for the mind and soul!
