(from Google)Dr. Asman is the best. We have 4 adopted dogs with different backgrounds and personalities. She makes all of them feel safe and they trust her. As for being a "fur-mom," she gives me extra information when I ask for it and really works with me for the best for all my dogs. She is beyond thorough and I can't say enough about her good about her. I know Dr. King is here as well and she is also amazing! She is well knowledged and has great bedside manner for both me and my dogs. Their front desk is also incredible! All three of them make me feel like my call is important. They are friendly and really go out of their way to find solutions to anything you are coming in for or calling about. I can't say enough about the staff at Rising Sun. I went to another vet for 5 years so I don't take changing vets lightly. This is an amazing staff!
We recently moved to the Lowry area and through some neighbor and Vet ER referrals decided to establish care with Rising Sun Animal Care for our Boxer. The team was very friendly, and did a great job of providing care for our dog. She gets nervous at Vet clinics, and their entire team did a great job of making her feel as comfortable as possible.
Sadly, I had to put my very sick kitty to sleep. I researched in-home euthanasia services and discovered that the MINIMUM average cost is around $650-700 for the home visit + communal cremation (which means you don't get the ashes). I opted to take my cat to Rising Sun (her regular vet) for euthanasia. The staff was compassionate and the process was smooth. I chose the low-cost 'communal ashes' option since I'm not interested in a bag of ashes. Their cost was around $220 - very reasonable. Although my kitty may have had a slightly better experience with an in-home visit, she was already in such a bad state that I don't believe bringing her to the vet significantly increased her stress. I got to spend all the time I wanted with her in their private 'comfort room,' both before and after the doctor administered the drugs. They ensure a discreet exit so you can keep your emotions private: I paid before the service, and the room has its own exit door so you can leave without being seen. Who wants to walk through the vet reception area, sobbing with snot running down your face? For me and my kitty, it was a very good choice for a devastating day. I highly recommend.
Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Rising Sun Animal Care. For the past few years, their team has lovingly supported me in caring for my dog, Bodhi, who had several chronic health challenges. Every visit was met with patience, clear guidance, and genuine compassion. When the heartbreaking moment came this August to release Bodhi from his body, Rising Sun stood by me with such tenderness, respect, and grace. They created a space where love could lead the way — even in as my heart broke in a million pieces. Their presence helped me navigate one of the hardest days of my life with dignity and peace. The work they do is more than veterinary care — it is sacred service. I am forever grateful.
Update: The practice has had a mass exodus of the best vets I’ve had the opportunity to have my dogs seen by. The communication of these changes has been poorly done to the effect that I was called the day before my appointment to inform me that yet another vet had left the practice and I would have to once again reschedule my appointment (I had to previously reschedule because another veterinarian had left the practice). I’m not sure what happened but I do know that the previous owner of the practice ran a very tight ship and with her gone the other quality vets have also left. It is really too bad - I’m looking to see where these vets go to so I know where to follow. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX We have three dogs, all have very different personalities and have had varying traumatizing experiences prior to their adoption. Rising Sun's Front Desk Staff, Vet Techs, and Vets have done amazingly with all three of them (and us too). They are friendly, knowledgeable and err on the side of conservative treatment always with the pet's best interest in mind. Previously, our 40 pounder would need several techs to aid him to get a nail trim (our last vet wouldn't trim his nails without him being profoundly drugged). With our time with Rising Sun they have brought care and compassion to him to the point where we can safely trim his nails at home with just a spatula of peanut butter (no holding needed). Bravo!
