(from Google)The trails are great but all the signs have either been graffitied or faded from the Sun. So it makes the games not as fun.
Small, but very nice calm place. Open until sunset, but you can get some evening life here still. I saw marsh rabbits and a lot of lizards. The information stands are creatively designed and bring up a lot of interesting information, but can benefit some maintenance. Free admission. All paths are great for strollers (and I assume wheelchair accessible as well)
What a beautiful spot for walking, relaxing, a picnic, and so much more. Plenty of parking. Easy access. Picnic area. Trails for walking. Board walk- dock. Scenery is beautiful. It’s so tranquil and calming. There’s bus parking available. The entrance is hidden in beautiful foliage so keep an eye out for it.
I visited Castaway Island Preserve for an hour to walk the paved nature trails and boardwalk overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. There are picnic tables, paddle board rentals, a gazebo on the water, restrooms, an education facility and outdoor learning/group area, docks, trails, interpretive signs and great views of the surrounding marshland. I saw several people walking their dogs, parents with their children and people exercising on the trails. This is a lovely, free excursion that is very well-maintained. A peaceful respite surrounded by the bustling city!
Castaway Island Preserve was very fun. We went with my daughter's family with six kids. We all loved it. The kids enjoyed following the footprints on the path to see who's they belonged to. We also enjoyed using Google Lens to identify the plants along the way. It was beautiful.
