The city of Harlingen shines with this unique nature park. The different paths are absolute memory makers, especially during springtime! The native plant blooms will astound you! The Rio Grande Valley Texas Master Naturalist Chapter spent many hours planting, identifying, and grooming the trails for your enjoyment. The park is located along the Arroyo Colorado a small river running from the upper Rio Grande Valley to the Lower Laguna Madre, a highly productive hypersaline lagoon and anglers paradise. Anglers site fish for red drum, spotted seatrout, flounder and snook, using polarized sunglasses to break the sun's reflection on the crystaline water, giving a them clear view of their reward. You can practice catch and release or take a few fish to be prepared to your liking at local restaurants in Port Isabel or South Padre Island.

Visted from Indiana where we had 9in of snow and arrived to 60° and bright sun. The trails were easy to walk and the plants that were blooming were awesome. Totally chill place to visit to burn some time.

Really nice place with plenty of trails that are easy to hike. There are several bird blinds. Went back for a 2nd visit and walked a lot more of the trails. All of the trails are very easy to walk but are not well marked where the trails intersect or fork. There are a lot of signs identifying the plants and providing info about them. Most of the bird blinds are in need of repairs. One blind that is a lot newer and in great condition was an Eagle Scout project.
