(from Google)Fourth review over the last 8 years of taking my sweet cats to Dr. Cody. Every positive review formerly written about The Cat Doctor in Thousand Oaks, still remains true. (Please see past reviews below.) My cat is so unbelievably comfortable with Dr. Cody, and I always feel very confident about his handling of my cat; it’s impressive to watch. Dr. Cody’s presence is calming. He is a truly skilled cat whisperer. His staff are friendly, gentle with the fur-babies, smile a lot and convey they’re glad to be helpful. My family (SALLYcakes included, of course!), truly love Dr. Cody and his staff-family. Still 5-Stars!! This is my third review for Dr. Bryan Cody (please see below reviews). SALLYcakes and I, along with my daughter, truly love Dr. Cody. He is so gentle and kind. I have been taking my cat to Dr. Cody for 7+ years now. His wonderful, caring, cat whisperer way of interacting with cats is beautiful and reassuring. He causes my cat to trust him and she gets the best care. Before moving out here, my cats saw different doctors (I’ve had lots of cats over the years), and none hold a candle to Dr. Cody’s gentle care. Please, bring your kitty to Dr. Cody. You will be so glad you did. It will be the best experience for your cat, and for you. Dr. Cody, thank you for working us in when I was concerned for SALLYcakes. I know how booked up you are. You are a such a sweet veterinarian, aside from being so skilled. SALLYcakes is feeling better! Thank you so much! My family and I love you. ❤️ 🐈 Still 5-Stars!! Three years ago, I wrote a review for The Cat Doctor (see below). I’m still taking my cat there (the last of 5), for care. The team is fantastic in sensitivity on all levels (physical, emotional, time efficiency, etc.). Dr. Cody is always wonderful, and his assistant, Josh, is amazing, too! Josh listens with such genuine care, and he is so gentle, just like Dr. Cody. He also clipped SALLYcakes nails absolutely perfect! They were totally smooth and cut back as far as would not harm. I know because he permitted me to stay with her while he clipped, which he said they normally take them to the back to have one person hold and another clip. I shared that I preferred to be the one to hold her. No problem! And, SALLYcakes was calm and didn’t pull back or yelp (or growl) at all. The front reception is caring and very welcoming, too! I love them. You can trust them. The Cat Doctor (Dr. Cody), and his sensitive staff (Shelly & Mandy) are true cat and cat owner whisperers. I just moved to the area, and had to put my beloved, very old feral kitty down. He was with me for approximately 20-years. The Cat Doctor and loving staff were extremely gentle, genuinely caring, empathetic and highly professional and skilled. They eased my kitty and I through a most difficult transition. I have four other cats (semi-ferals), all of whom now have truly the best veterinarian. I received a tastefully kind sympathy card, which was extended in a thoughtful period of time. Thank you, Dr Cody, Mandy, and Shelly, for ‘being there’ with such great care.
please read my review before deciding with these people. just about every experience I had with them was poor. my cat was diagnosed with feline stomatitis by a couple other vets & I chose the cat dr for my cats full mouth extractions because of their reviews & I liked that they specialized in cats. the day my kitty had his surgery I was told he would be done at 12 & that was all I was told. so I drove to back to the vet around 11:30 and waited to be called for when I could pick him up. 1pm starts approaching & I decide to call them & the lady asks me on the phone rudely if anyone called me & to wait to be called for when hes done. I told her I was told he would be ready at 12 & she told me no thats totally wrong he won’t be done until after 3 at this point I just decided to drive home which is about 30 minutes but my car had issues & I wasn’t able to drive home so I just waited in the parking lot for my kitty to be out of surgery. around 2:30 I get a call from the dr saying the surgery went well & he needs time to wake up a little (something along those lines, this was a few months ago) so I say okay and wait. it’s almost 6 now and I get a call from the same receptionist. she says “are you gonna pick up your cat?? he’s been ready to go for 2 hours now” at this point i was so upset. why would you not call me the second he’s ready? why did you tell me to wait to be called & then wait until almost closing to call me?? obviously its not their fault i was having car problems but knowing my kitty woke up from the surgery all alone when I was in the parking lot a few feet away and could’ve been there with him. when I finally went to pick him up he was completely out of the anesthesia and a very upset kitty. at this point I was just happy everything went okay. a month or two later I had the follow up appointment to see how his mouth was healing. everything seemed okay I asked the receptionist for a copy of his xrays and she told me she would email them to me. (I never received the email or xrays) then december comes & my kitty is having pain in his mouth again. I call the cat doctor and once again I ask for the xrays that I paid for. the receptionist says she cannot send them to me because their are done on film. I told her I was already told I would be sent them so I just need them to be sent to me. (I’ve had other xrays done on my cat and its never been an issue. I have copies of all his xrays.) the lady on the phone starts getting rude and saying how she can’t send them. she even cut me off when I was just stating how I was confused why I would be told I would be sent them in the first place. obviously I want the xrays so I can take them to another vet to see if they missed any bones or roots but I can’t. anyone who’s paid for xrays knows how expensive they are. so I bite my tongue and make another appointment for my cat to be seen. this visit alone I wish I could give 0 stars. I go in with my kitty & explain to them what’s going on the dr tells me there’s a shot they could give him and he will be right back with the information. then the assistant comes back instead and I ask if the doctor is coming back like he said he would so we can discuss finding the root of the problem and what went wrong. she tells me the doctor isn’t coming back. I ask about the x-rays and she comes back with an envelope with some film in it that is “my cats x-rays” all of them were completely unreadable and smudged except one. she said i could not have them and I could only look. then she handed me the bill and I left. I’ve never felt so dismissed by a vet. I wasted so much of my money and time. now I have to go to another vet, pay $600+ for x-rays and hope they treat their patients better.
Fantastic doctor and great staff! My cat is 17 years old and the Dr and crew are so caring and gentle. Highly recommend The Cat Doctor!
The Cat Doctor is the best vet for cats—period. Calm, quiet office perfect for stressed felines. Dr. Cody’s gentle touch calms even my anxious seniors. He fixed two long-standing issues on my delicate pink-and-white cat that other vets couldn’t, and expertly manages her diabetes plus he offers outstanding in-house sub q injections for my delicate tortie cat’s renal failure, and advised me and provided equipment for at home sub q injections to keep her comfortable and detoxed. Dr. Cody and staff keeps me calm, too. Unmatched care—I’m forever grateful. 5 stars!
I absolutely love The Cat Doctor! When I moved to the area in 2020 with my 6-month-old kitten, I called several vets to get information about neutering him. The staff at The Cat Doctor stood out immediately—they were by far the most attentive and helpful. On top of that, their pricing was much more reasonable than the others I contacted. The procedure went smoothly, even during the height of pandemic precautions, and I felt confident in their care. I’ve been with them ever since and have recommended them to other cat parents, who’ve had the same great experience. Highly recommend!
