(from Google)Lovely trail, we went left with our group of young kids and they enjoyed the 1.2 mile loop with views of evergreens, birds, water through the trees, icy puddles to play in. Mostly a sunny trail, did fine with a jogging stroller but there were some rocky parts that were more challenging for walking strollers. One portapotty available. Lots of sunshine which was perfect for the winter!
There are plenty of ant hills scattered around, so be very careful if you're walking or sitting on the grass. The park has a portable potty, but it's not a real toilet, so plan accordingly. The grassy fields are spacious and great for picnics or playing, but there’s very little shaded area or seating area, so it can get pretty hot during sunny days. On the plus side, there’s an exercise area for those looking to work out.
Decent place to walk your dogs. You get veiws of the Elizabeth river. There's a lot of places that hold water. I'd wear the right shoes after a rain. Seen all kinds of different birds. Even a couple eagles.
This park is such a hidden gem (especially for out-of-towners)! I absolutely love it. We saw crabs, picked blueberries, and even got a little exercise at the workout station. So much open land to have a picnic. It's a lovely place to take pictures!
I enjoyed walking here. The path to the right takes you past a small pond and into an open field area with has a path that weaves up and down small hills, and goes along the tree line. The path on the left is also nice and goes along the tree line. There are beautiful views of the sky on both sides and different views of the water as you walk. I went a few weeks ago and it looks like they are preparing for wild flowers. Looking forward to going back in the spring. There are a few picnic tables and 1 set is covered. They a port-a-potty that gets serviced regularly.
