So far 5 stars! My pup has only been there once so far. He felt more comfortable here, so did I. They were very direct with our questions. The wellness plan that they offer is the best one I have found. The lobby is nice and soothing.

October 6, 2025: Dr. Fyfe unknowingly saved our dog, Buttons! We adopted Buttons, a miniature schnauzer, in June 2024. When she arrived home, she had constant diarrhea! For the next three months, we saw 3 different veterinarians from a different practice. All of them threw medications and different foods at us without explaining what was possibly causing the diarrhea. This was all new to us and left us feeling so alone! Watching our Buttons getting up several times a night only to relieve herself with diarrhea was beyond cruel. We were so beside ourselves that we were seriously considering putting Ms. Buttons down to relieve her of the sickness she obviously was feeling. Believing in the all-mighty God and praying for his guidance, we tried one more time to search for a veterinarian in the Jacksonville area. At our first consultation with Dr. Fyfe in October 2024, he did more than all three of the previous veterinarians put together. Dr. Fyfe was Button’s Lord and Savior! Dr. Fyfe took time to explain the possibilities on the cause. He methodically approached Buttons’ condition with suggesting a chart to monitor her intake and her fecal. For one year, we worked together in getting Buttons to where she is today. Dr. Fyfe did all of the possible testing to rule out causes other than having a very severe food allergy. With time, patience and complete trust in Dr. Fyfe, Buttons is a lively, happy, loving miniature schnauzer today. Her diet consists of only one specific hydrolyzed protein. We are so deeply grateful to Dr. Fyfe in his methodical approach to changing one item at a time, understanding, leadership, education, openness to possibilities, time and trust in treating Buttons. We love our “special needs” Buttons and EVERYONE at Pet Doctors of America!! Thank You for listening. It means so much!!

My dog is 10 years old and has never had behavioral issues with people, though he does experience fear at the vet like many dogs do. During our first visit for vaccines, my dog was taken into a separate room without asking me first. This had never happened at any previous veterinary clinic. During a blood draw attempt, he fear-bit a vet tech. I apologized and felt horrible, but the way this was communicated to me felt abrupt and blame-focused, without any discussion of what may have contributed to the situation. I rescheduled his appointment, and he was prescribed a high pre-visit sedation protocol (gabapentin and trazodone). At this appointment, he showed no signs of aggression and was extremely subdued. Despite this, staff required two muzzles and appeared very fearful of him, even though he was barely moving. Even while double-muzzled and heavily sedated, my dog was held down on the floor with significant physical restraint in order to administer vaccines. He reacted briefly out of fear, not aggression. This level of restraint felt excessive given the circumstances, especially since I was present, he was not escalating, and it was physically impossible for him to bite. Additional testing was not completed due to continued concern about aggression, despite the sedation and muzzling. Throughout the visit, the tone toward both me and my dog felt tense and lacking in compassion. The vet made it clear no discussion was going to be had about why that happened and how we can better move forward. I fully acknowledge the seriousness of a bite incident and take responsibility as his owner. However, fear-based reactions require low-stress handling. This experience was traumatic for my dog and for me. The veterinarian did answer my questions and was kinder once the appointment was over, and test results were returned quickly. However, based on our experience, this clinic may be better suited for small and non-fearful dogs. Owners of anxious or fearful dogs may want to seek a practice experienced in fear-free or low-stress handling. Photos attached show my dog before restraint and immediately afterward.

We have been bringing our dogs here for over 10 years. Dr Fyfe and the gang are very very good at what they do. They are kind and caring and actually care for your pet. When you first walk in, you can tell this place is different. Excellent personal interaction. I highly recommend this business.

My family has been doing business with Pet Doctors on Beach Blvd for the life of two dogs, probably close to 15 years total. Typically, everything has been great and we have never had any issues, other than the very substantial rising costs. I understand that is the world we live in, but sometimes it does seem overwhelming. I actually drive around 45 mins from St. Augustine, just to continue to do business with them because of the great staff. However, the last few times I have brought my dog in for grooming (bath and de-shedding treatment), he has developed hot spots around a week later. This only started to take place over the last 3 grooming appointments. I even brought that up prior to dropping him off for his last grooming, and I was told that they had changed their shampoo. Once again, about a week later, my dog developed multiple hot spots, one being pretty serious. I reached back out to let them know what was going on, and simply repeat some medicated cream to help him. I sent photos in for review, and am now being told that I would be charged a $95 Telehealth fee for them to send cream to us. I explained to them that it is very hard to get away from work, and I just don’t have the time to bring him up to their location. After the thousands of dollars I have spent with their company, I am very disappointed that they are once again asking for more $ from me, after a $200+ grooming session, for a very simple issue to resolve. At this point, I may be moving on from them, and looking for a vet that is more local to me, and hopefully more affordable as well.
