Yardstick Dog Hotel - Berry Hill

Hands down the most fabulous experience ever! 🙌 The entire staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely felt like they cared about my dog, Archie! I received so many updates every single day with pictures and info on how he was doing - literally the best thing ever for an anxious mama! When I picked Archie up he was so happy, you could tell he had an amazing time and was loved on! I will forever be appreciative to the whole team for taking such amazing care of my baby boy - will be back again and again and again! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

I’m always nervous to leave my sweet pup somewhere new but the employees at Yardstick made me feel so comfortable from the second we walked in! They send photos and updates throughout the day and I can see that my dog was having a blast! The people there are so kind and I can tell that they truly care about animals. We’ve boarded there twice and we’ll definitely use them again and again. I’m so grateful that I gave them a try!

Yardstick was initially our preferred boarding facility because of the level of care and service they advertised. However, we were ultimately asked to leave due to concerns about our dog being labeled as “aggressive,” a characterization that does not accurately reflect his behavior. Our dog is cautious around unfamiliar individuals, but not inherently aggressive. Throughout our experience, there was a noticeable lack of staff consistency due to frequent turnover. Several experienced staff members communicated that they were comfortable handling our dog and understood how to appropriately approach and care for him. This demonstrates that, with proper knowledge and handling techniques, his behavior was manageable. Unfortunately, this level of competence and consistency was not evident across the entire team. Since moving to another boarding facility, we have not experienced any issues. Their staff are properly trained and capable of managing dogs with similar temperaments without difficulty, despite also accepting a wide range of breeds. This contrast highlights a clear gap in training and consistency at Yardstick.

Yardstick is truly the best. Every single person who works there genuinely loves our dog, Waylon, like he is their own, and it shows. They send thoughtful text updates throughout the day, patiently answer all of my very needy dog-mom questions, and make it so easy to spoil him with room service items when he stays overnight. I also deeply appreciate how intentional they are with care. They never overcrowd, rotate dogs out for naps so they are not overstimulated, and always have a human staying overnight in the building. Knowing there is someone physically there for safety, especially during bad weather or emergencies, gives us so much peace of mind. Waylon is happy, safe, and genuinely excited to be there, and that is everything. We cannot recommend Yardstick enough.

I’ve had an amazing experience with Yardstick for my pup! She’s very anxious and doesn’t always do well in a big daycare environment and she always seems to have a ton of fun at Yardstick with them having smaller groups of dogs. I’ve also tried out boarding for the first time with Yardstick and my dog loved it and made me feel so much better about leaving her overnight.
