Petco

Do NOT buy plants from their tank. I want to preface this with, the only items in the 2.5 gallon tank were from this store. I purchased two plants from here over a month ago. I quarantined them in a 2.5 gallon tank (also purchased with the plants), to make sure that there were no issues/unwanted hitchhikers into my 10 gallon tank. There was a ramshorn snail that was on the plant, but that wasn't an issue and I left it in the 2.5 gallon. Since it had been over a month without incident I finally moved just one of the plants over to my 10 gallon. A few days later the ramshorn snail started acting weird and passed. Come to find out, Planaria (a snail, shrimp, and weak/old fish killer that I have attached a picture of that I took) had come in off of the plants. If they were on the two plants I purchased I can almost guarantee they are on the other plants in the tank — as Planaria will hide/lay eggs in plant roots. The Planaria are also nocturnal, which makes it hard to know they are even there until something happens. Now I'm working on damage control for my 10 gallon that has a Horned Nerite snail and Amano shrimp in it. If you have a nerite snail, like I do, you can't use any of the medications used to kill off Planaria as it is likely to kill the snail, too. I didn't purchase items from any Petco for DECADES after one Petco, in my hometown, refused to remove recalled cat food (which resulted in the death of my kitten) at the confirmation of the manager (they had, honestly, said they knew of the recall and didn't care). I decided to try Petco again, as I'd moved across the country and figured why not, and now this. I can recommend the tanks/equipment, but nothing else. If you've purchased a plant from their tank already, PLEASE check your aquarium. It's likely you've accidentally purchased a plant with Planaria, too.

Incredible staff at this location. Always extremely kind. Had some punks try to cut me in line today and the employee working the register kindly thwarted their efforts in a professional and nonchalant manner. 10/10

My partner and I have been taking our puppy to training classes for the last 10 weeks and it has been wonderful!! Brenda is absolutely amazing to work with and our pup, Fern, adores her. We highly recommend working with Brenda for training as she has amazing tips and tricks! Not only that, she also has a wonderful personality and you can tell she enjoys working with her pups and their owners. She also helped me prior to signing up for puppy classes, and had great recommendations for products to get to help with training. Her customer service is excellent. The only reason this review is 4 stars rather than 5 is because Petco has moved their puppy training area into the middle of the store which has made it noticeably smaller. It seems cramped… like Petco or management decided that the training area was not worth a larger space? Luckily, we have the only puppy going to training during the particular day/time we chose, but if there were more dogs in her class things could get chaotic as they would not have enough space to separate, especially with the owners being there as well. Additionally, it is very distracting for the pups because anyone walking through the isles or through the front door can come up to the fence and lean over to pet the dogs or other dogs could jump on the fence because it is between two isles rather than off to the side of the store as it was before. Hopefully, this review can help management/ Petco understand that the current set up of the training area is not desirable and quite small for a growing pup.

Karen was amazing and saved the day tonight 5/26/25!! Thank you so much for answering the phone and coming over to unlock the doors to help me with such exceptional service with just 5 minutes until closing! I was out of town and ran out of dog food and unfortunately my picky dog would eat nothing else. Of course she could have gone a night without it but didn’t have to thanks to you!!

This place stands behind its products. Easy returns, no questions asked. My bubby was ashamed because he put on too much weight for his harness, they returned the old harness for full credit toward the new one and made him feel like a special little man. THANK YOU PETCO FOR MAKING PET PARENTING A LITTLE EASIER They also sell the toughest toys!
