(from Google)I will definitely be going again soon! It was a very good walk. Minimal climbing involved but enough to keep it interesting. The views were amazing! Although I found free parking, it was not close to the Trail itself so, I’ll have to hunt around for closer parking that I saw along my walk. 10/10 would highly recommend! Take lots of water and a few snacks with you!
Great trail. Make sure you take lots water and some snacks. Right shoes are very important. It was lots mosquito. Springtime long sleeve isn’t a bad idea.
Billy Goat Trail Section C offers a serene and accessible hiking experience along the Potomac River within the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park. This 1.6-mile trail is the easiest of the three Billy Goat Trail sections, featuring a mostly flat path with some rocky areas and a stream crossing. It's well-suited for families and those seeking a leisurely hike, providing scenic river views and opportunities to observe local wildlife. The trail connects with the C&O Canal Towpath, allowing for loop options. Please note that, as of the latest reports, a fallen tree has damaged a bridge on the trail, making part of it inaccessible; check current conditions before your visit.
What a fun trail! it has some easy parts and some challenging. There were many scenic resting/stopping points along the trail..perfect for resting or photo ops. A couple porta potties are available at the start of the trail, along with some picnic tables and an amazing rocky/cliff like view. We saw a guy doing handstands...a little too bold! There were an abundance of stink bugs, but that comes with nature. I can't promise this is kid-friendly with all the challenging parts, although there were a few there! There is enough parking, first come first server deal....with Hiking it's always best to get there early enough to avoid crowds and enjoy nature better. A $20 parking fee is required at the entrance.
