(from Google)I want to start by saying that I have great respect for anyone that works in the veterinary field and out of respect for Dr. Plummer and the rest of his staff, I didn’t want to leave a 1-star rating. This ordeal took place a couple of weeks ago. Our dog Winston stopped walking and had very little control over his lower extremities. We saw the female veterinarian and she said she was going to treat this as a back injury. We were given very little hope. We did an X-ray that didn’t show anything. We took him home on strict bed rest and several medications. Since Winston had not urinated in 24 hours we made an appointment with a technician for 8:20am to have his bladder expressed and asked if we could be in the room to watch and learn how to do it. We were told that the rooms were for veterinarians only and that we could not go in the back with the technician to learn how to do this. However, if we wanted to pay the extra $20 to have a room then we could observe. At this point I was desperate and said sure, make it a room visit then. Ironically, I was still given the exact same time of 8:20am to have a room and observe the procedure. I asked to speak to the manager since there was a room available at the exact same time, and asked if she could make an exception for us just this one time so we could learn rather than drag our paralyzed dog into the office 3 times a day. She said no it’s our policy. So disappointing. Thank God he started urinating on his own and was starting to try to walk prior to the appointment. However, due to the steroids, Winston had now developed severe diarrhea and we ended up going back that same week for a third appointment. We saw the female veterinarian again and once again we were met with very little hope, doom and gloom. She said that unless we go to a neurologist immediately for an MRI and possible surgery ($12k) Winston would most likely not recover. I said but he has deep tissue sensation which means he could walk again on his own with a course of steroids and strict rest. She then argued with me that he did not have deep tissue sensation and then took surgical forceps and clamped down on Winston’s foot pad (he did flinch and pull away) and said this is not deep tissue sensation (what???) she did this several more times to the point that I had to say I get it that’s enough! She was aggressive and visibly agitated that I questioned her. 20 minutes after leaving that appointment Winston took several wobbly steps across the living room( I emailed the video to Plummer Pet Hospital) which could only have happened with him having deep tissue sensation. We decided that same day to take him to Blue Pearl pet neurology for a second opinion. During the exam the neurologist at BP confirmed that Winston most definitely had deep tissue sensation and we were given a 60-70% chance that he could walk again with medication and rest. We were finally given hope!!❤️ No MRI, no surgery (thank God) What bothers me the most is how many pet parents were also given so little hope that they made a premature decision to euthanize their beloved pet because the only hope that was given was a 12k surgery. Even though I can appreciate her”I’m a straight shooter” attitude, her agitated and aggressive demeanor was not only unnecessary but unprofessional. I am happy to report Winston is walking very well after 3 weeks and continues to improve every day. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPTION
Had to take my poor boy Lucky in today due to tooth pain and bad swelling that popped up quickly. They were able to get me in same day without a fuss. The Vet Tech Megan was so kind and amazing with my boy. Even though the doctor was a little behind understandably, she reassured me every few minutes they'd be available soon and brought Lucky in a bowl of water. Dr. Dibler was so thorough and informative as to what is going on with my pup and really made it easy to understand what's happening and the treatment plan. He will have to go back for dental treatment and extraction but the cost is no where near what I was expecting in a very good way. I will absolutely be bringing my pup here for routine visits after his procedure. Can't say enough amazing things about this place even after just one visit. Thank you all for everything!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. Dr Drummond is our hero! After getting an upsetting and questionable diagnosis from another vet, her 2nd opinion, expertise, caring attitude and spleen removal surgery literally saved our sweet 11 year old dogs life! We are so grateful! Highly recommend!
I have a shar pei and it can be difficult to find good vets who Winston trusts. Coming here has been a blessing. The vets and staff are so amazing at making sure he has anything he needs to be comfortable coming in. He use to wear a party hat (muzzle) but not anymore. He does amazing for them. They care about my pets and I feel they always have their best interest at heart.
I can not say enough good about Dr Plummer I went in looking for a Christmas miracle and he delivered. My golden retriever puppy (10mo) needed a back leg amputation, I had been to multiple places and the last very well known vet wanted to charge me thousands and thousands of dollars. Dr Plummer scheduled the amputation 2 days before Xmas he came same day and he is doing phenomenal. We are forever grateful 🫶🐾🙏
