Smoke On The River

If I could put 0 stars I would. Santa clause looking owner came out and refused our service because my sister brought her service dog for being a diabetic. Refused to even look at legal documentation and said we better leave before we need a lawyer. If I wasn’t as in touch with my faith as I am, he would have taken a long long nap on the river next to us. Owner was also hammered and smelled like bourbon

Was in the are for the Altima 600 in Bradenton. Found this place in Google. Awesome. Local hole in the wall, in all the right ways. Tried a mix of things across 8 family members with us. All of it was fantastic. Price was reasonable. If in the area for future events I will take the time to visit again.

I was excited when this place got some new menu items. Disappointed in the money spent on the fish and soft-shell crab platter. There was no mention on the menu that the soft-shell crab liver/pancreas (filters impurities from the crab’s system) is NOT removed. The nasty yellow stuff inside contains PCBs, dioxins and mercury - and you should avoid eating it. It was foul tasting when I took the first bite and ruined the entire meal. Ended up throwing out the whole dinner because the yellow spread when I bit down and was everywhere. The coleslaw as pictured - must have been sitting for a while - not fresh, gray in color with bitter taste.

Absolutely a hidden gem, finally found real bbq instaed of all these chain restaurants. Brisket is real deal bbq, moist and thick with a smoke ring and sweet fat layer- the best thing we got. The ribs are huge and tasty with a nice dry rub and you get so much more than you expect in a full rack. The smoked wings are flavorful and taste smoked with nice crispy skin. Also had the beans which were just right. Dont skip the red carolina sauce, it's a thin vinegar type sauce and very tasty. The location is really cool and watching the boats drive by in the shade with a nice river breeze is great.

Was looking for a new barbarcue place and was very impressed by this hidden gem. Lovely little place on the river....brisket was moist and dry rub was delicious. Did not get a chance to try their homemade sauce. Love the idea of wings being smoked instead of fried...came with a good amount of sauce. We enjoyed watching boats go by as we waited for our food. The sides are small but delicious!! Shut out to Sarah for her sweet kind service. Will definitely be back!
