(from Google)Short people beware. The steps are huge. It's a challenging trail because it's rocky and gets slippery fast in the off-chance you encounter even light rain. A light windbreaker is helpful as it got windy up there near the top.
Hiking Piestewa Peak (Piestewa Summit) is no joke — at about 2,000 feet elevation, it definitely feels like leg day at the gym! The trail is steep and rocky, so make sure you wear good grip shoes. It can be a little challenging, especially toward the top, but it’s 100% worth it. Once you reach the summit, the views are incredible — the surrounding mountains somehow look smaller than you, and the city views are just stunning. Tough climb, amazing payoff. Highly recommend if you’re up for a solid workout with a view!
Absolutely beautiful. I drove a group of folk up there to hike and unfortunately I wasn’t able to go hike with them but the beauty of the surroundings was undeniable. The bathrooms were clean. The parking was adequate.
Piestewa Peak trailhead and nature area are very well maintained, with very nice amenities near the parking lot. The trail shows significant upkeep from over the years, due to the sites popularity. The summit trail is no joke, a right proper hike, taking about an hour. A very surefooted runner could do it in less, but the steps, jagged terrain, and steep trails make you want to slow down. The gate closed at 7pm but will let you out when you are ready to head out. Go have fun!
My go-to for a sunset hike. Never disappoints, always busy. I mainly use this trail for exercise, not so much for nature. Its to crowded and centralized for peace. But it works for what I use it for.
